MINUTES OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DUMAS, TEXAS SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2025 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Brinkmann at 12:00 P.M. Mayor Brinkmann opened the Formal Session Building Official, Javier Pena, presents Planning and Zoning Case No. 337 = Car Port Variance, to the Commission. 221 square feet over the 40% allotment. A motion was made by Commissioner Brooks, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sims, and passed by a 4/1 majority vote to approve Planning and Zoning Case No. 337 for a car port variance, as presented. Mr. Pena continues on to present Planning and Zoning Case No. 339 - Duplex Variance to the Commission. He lets the Commission know these duplexes are located on Michael Street. Mr. Borunda, the owner ofthe duplexes, is requesting an 18% variance. He lets the Commission know these are three bed single car garage duplexes. A motion was made by Commissioner Barr, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sims, and passed by a 4/1 majority vote to approve Planning and Zoning Case No. 339 for an 18% duplex variance. Mr. Pena goes on to present Planning and Zoning Case No. 340 - Duplex Variance. He explains that these duplexes will be on the 1200 block of Zauk and the variance requested is for 15% over the allotment. The developer is having to build long ways as opposed to outwards, which is the reasoning for the variance request. A motion was made by Commissioner Barr, seconded by Commissioner Brooks and passed by a 4/1 majority vote to approve Planning and Zoning Case No. 340 for a 15% Duplex Variance. City Secretary, Bethanie Kemp, presents the May 3, 2025 General Election results. A motion was made by Commissioner Brooks, seconded by Commissioner Barr, and passed unanimously to canvass the votes and declare the returns of the May 3, 2025 General Election. PI. 4 Shannon 84 169 6 259 Gillespie Eric Holt 57 159 0 216 Mayor Brinkmann states it has been an honor and privilege to serve as a Commissioner and Mayor over the last nine years, and he is proud of how far our city has come within those years. Commissioner Barr thanks the citizens for the opportunity to serve on the Commission as well, and he appreciates all city employees and their efforts during his time on the Commission. Mayor Brinkmann administered the statement of officer and the oath of office to Pat Sims as incoming Mayor, Clayton Blacksher as incoming Commissioner Place 3 and Shannon Gillespie as incoming Commissioner Place 4. Mayor Brinkmann passed the gavel over to incoming Mayor Sims. Commissioner Blacksher states he is very excited for the opportunity to serve as a Commissioner.
