BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Finance Planning/Zoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on April 21, 2025, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. FINANCEPLANNINGIZONING Ryan Mayberry- Chairman; Members: Ronald Kratz, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. Discussion concerning SFM Consulting. Councilor Mayberry would like this tabled to executive session. b. Update on Economic Development and Beautification Committee. Councilor Mayberry informed the Committee they have 3 members signed up to complete the 5-member board. President Schnaars suggested to Councilor Mayberry to check with Solicitor Young on what we legally need to constitute. Councilor Kratz also suggested checking to make sure there is not a conflict ofinterest. C. Visioning: Councilor Mayberry has researched the code manual concerning rentals and the reporting of tenants, property managers, etc. President Schnaars informed Councilor Mayberry the registration is sent out at the beginning of every year. Fire Chief Reph added they have a list of all the tenants, that we are aware of in the Borough. There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. PUBLIC SAFETY Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Ryan Mayberry, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics a. Visioning: Councilor Kratz gave kudos to the Police Department for all their hard work. Fire Chief Reph informed the Committee they will be having a Community Day on June 28th, 2025. There is a request from a vendor to serve alcohol on Borough property. President Schnaars stated Chief Reph needs to submit the request to the office to be placed on the Council agenda for approval. 1 There were no questions from the Committee members; the Public Safety Committee meeting was adjourned. C. HUMAN/COMMUNITY SERVICES Zachari Halkias - Chairman; Members: Ryan Mayberry, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. The Committee reviewed the request from Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool Association for the usage of the area on the corner of Main and Grove Street on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 PM to conduct a fundraiser featuring Vince's Famous Cheesesteaks. President Schnaars would like this placed on the next regular Council agenda for approval. b. Visioning: Councilor Halkias had suggested having a website created to have a list of local people that would do snow plowing, grass cutting, with a seasonal registration fee to offset the website cost. Councilor Kratz stated this may not be impinging on the some of the commercial enterprises and not the Borough's roll. Councilor Halkias is proposing a list of people who would be willing to help the elderly with plowing, mowing, etc. President Schnaars is concerned there could be liabilities and to check with Solicitor Young. There were no questions from the Committee members; the Fuman/Community Services Committee meeting was adjourned. EXECUTIVE SESSION: None D. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: None E.
