CITY OF ARNOLDSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING 4/17/2025 Mayor: Danny Morcom Council Present: Blake Arnold, Lillian Sanders, Joel Kriner City Employees Present: Dana Player, Lynn Shedd, Adam Boswell City Attorney Present: Danny Love Guests Present: Melvin Fleming, Doug Cosby, George Spearing III, Mr. & Mrs. Smith At 6:02 pm Mayor Danny Morcom called the meeting to order. Minutes On a motion from Lillian Sanders, seconded by Joel Kriner, the minutes for the March 20, 2025, regular meeting was approved as submitted. Vote 3-0 General Fund Financial Report On a motion from Joel Kriner, seconded by Lillian Sanders, the March 2025 General Fund Financial Report was approved as submitted. Vote 3-0 Water Fund Financial Report On a motion from Lillian Sanders, seconded by Joel Kriner, the March 2025 Water Fund Financial Report was approved as submitted. Vote 3-0 1st Ouarter Reports = ARP, CD's, GEFA, Online Purchasing, TSPLOST On a motion from Joel Kriner, seconded by Lillian Sanders, the 1st Quarter Reports were approved as submitted. Vote 3-0 Water Department Report Water Superintendent, Adam Boswell, said that everything was going good. He said that we received the New Well Application that we needed to fill out. Mayor Danny Morcom asked about the GW Bray well. Mr. Boswell said that we would need to add (2) filters and that test results showed iron and manganese. The water is safe for drinking. A guest, Mrs. Smith, asked ifwe added anything to the water. Mr. Boswell said that he puts a shot of chlorine in it. Superintendent, Boswell, suggested that we contact Black Mountain Software about the new meter reader. - Fire Department The Arnoldsville Fire Chief, Heath Baker, was not present. Doug Cosby said that March was busy with 13 calls and 4 at the same property. They responded to an accident in Crawford last Friday during Ghost Out. They are getting bids for the expansion at the fire station. Zoning Land Use/Zoning Officer Lynn Shedd reported one resident needed a CO. He told them to add rails on the steps and to seed the yard. New Business Mayor Danny Morcom asked the council about donating to the church in honor of Norma Craddock. The City donated $300.00 each to the church in honor ofJack and Lee Norman. On a motion from Lillian Sanders, seconded by Blake Arnold, it was approved to pay $300.00 to Alps Road Presbyterian Church in honor ofNorma Craddock. Mayor Danny Morcom mentioned the open seat on the council. City Attorney, Danny Love, stated that in 2011 the charter was amended that the council could appoint two vacant seats without an election. This would be the second seat for the current council. Attorney Love asked the city clerk, Dana Player, to put an ad in the Oglethorpe Echo and a notice on the website for people interested in being on the council. He gave a deadline of May 2nd. This will be addressed at the next public meeting. City Clerk, Dana Player, asked about the City Taxes that had not been paid. City Attorney, Danny Love, asked her to send him a list of all unpaid taxes. Old Business Mayor Danny Morcom said that he received three quotes on the paving of Pine Grove Road. He asked the council if they wanted to approve the low bid which was Garrett Paving. On a motion from Joel Kriner, seconded by Blake Arnold it was approved to use Garrett Paving for Pine Grove Road.
