Presentation of Certificate and Award (No. 7) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was presented to Neomi Williams, County. Auditor, and her staff on behalf of the Government Finance Officers Association oft the United States and Canada. Receive and Award Proposals for Food Service Vendor No: 2025-0007 (No. 9) MOTION: Mr. Varela made a motion to receive the bids for the food services contract and also award Performance Food Services for the food services contract and also authorize the county judge to negotiate a contract with Performance Food Services. Executive/Closed Session (No. 1) MOTION: Mr. Kaiser made a motion to go into executive/closed session at 9:45 a.m. and appoint the judge as the minute taker. Mr. Pilchiek seconded the motion. Discussion and Potential Action (No. 2) MOTION: Mr. Kaiser made a motion to approve Court Order No. 2025-010, approving the purchase by said County from Texan Store Properties, LLC of a certain tract of real property, containing approximately 1.395 acres, more or less, located in DeWitt County, Texas, a part ofthe James Kimberling Survey Abstract 283, for authorized public purposes, and authorizing the county to proceed to closing regarding said transaction with a price of$195,000.00 plus closing costs up to $2,500.00, including without limitation, surveyor, title insurance, escrow, copying, and recording fees; and authorize the county judge to do such document. Memorandum of Understanding (No. 3) MOTION: Mr. Varela made a motion to approve a Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose ofestablishing a partnership between Texas A&M. AgriLife Extension and DeWitt County for cooperative demonstration work in agriculture and home economics effective March 10, 2025 through September 30, 2030. Mr. Carson seconded the motion. Commissioner Pct. #2 Insurance Claim Settlement Offer (No. 3) MOTION: Mr. Pilchiek made a motion to receive the total loss settlement offer of $205,000 from TAC Risk Management Services for the total loss of the 2015 Caterpillar Motor Grader and authorize the auditor to proceed with executing the necessary documents to settle the insurance claim and credit the proceeds to DeWitt County Commissioner Precinct No. 2 Miscellaneous Income. Texas Association of Counties Property Insurance Renewal Schedule (No. 5) MOTION: Mr. Kaiser made a motion to approve the Texas Association of Counties, Risk Management Pool Insurance Renewal schedule and application for property insurance. Courthouse/Annex/Museum Expenditures/Maintenance/mmproyements (No. 37) Judge Fowler reported that Trane came last Friday and resolved two aggravating issues with the chillers. During District Court last week, the fans were blowing full speed and it was hard to hear the court proceedings. During the previous freeze, the air handler had been put on a manual hold, was blowing at 100% when it did not need to. Judge Fowler reported on the courthouse window repairs, quote received for washing the windows and a new sign has been ordered listing in alphabetical the office names of the Weber Annex building offices. Mr. Varela reported that he met with the DeWitt County Historical Museum board regarding what to expect during the renovations. During the construction, the museum will be closed and only necessary staff will be at the museum. Mr. Varela reported that he was present during the jail inspection. Besides minor items, the jail passed the inspection. Legislative Update (No. 38) Judge Fowler reported that he heard from Craig Holzheaser last week and there is still favorable talk about the additional $250,000,000.00 being added to the state budget. Judge Fowler spent Thursday evening and Friday morning at a meeting of county judges & collaboration with LCRA about LCRA projects and the county needs.
