Motion carried 11-0-3, with Committee Members, Brown, McGrath and Ulrich being absent. ITEMS PULLED FROM CONSENT CALENDAR 1. Foundation Financial Report Committee Member Hoskins inquired about the status of funds held in the Military Support Committee Foundation's account. Committee Member Smith stated that the current balance is sufficient for the events being held this year. Last year there was very little fundraising. She reviewed files, from previous years, to establish what had been approved in previous years. Committee Member Hoskins asked if the Military Support Committee Foundation needed any help on their website or social media platforms. Committee Member Smith stated that there was very little help needed, at this time. Committee Member Hoskins asked if the money raised was 100% from the committee and if there was any other expenses, other than the website, being pulled from the assets. Committee Member Smith stated that the yearly expenses are approximately $10,000.00, per year, from the Military Support Committee Foundation. Committee Member Hoskins asked if there was something the Military Support Committee Foundation could do to offset some of their expenses. Committee Member Smith stated that each member is going to contribute an amount to help offset the expenses. A MOTION was made by Committee Member Hoskins, seconded by Committee Member Baker, to approve Consent Calendar Item #1. Motion carried 11-0-3, with Committee Members, Brown, McGrath and Ulrich being absent. DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. Reports from the 1st Marine Battalion Regiment, USS Stockdale, and 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment Representatives Sebrina King, 1st Marines Regimental Headquarters, stated they will have their first spouse gathering on April 26th. There will be a mid-deployment brief on June 11th and a base spouse tour to see what resources are available to them. Military Support Committee Minutes Page 2 of 5 April 21, 2025 Marlene Lira, Ombudsman, USS Stockdale stated that they had their Easter Event on April 12th, but they were deployed the day before the event. They are supporting the Coast Guard right now. The Family Day Event has been put on hold for now. Committee Member Bowman stated that the 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment recently completed their aerial gunnery training in Signal, California. They have also been training with the Navy Seals at Coronado. They will be doing special training with the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in northern California in June or July. 2. Discuss and Approve a Check Request for the 1st Marine Regiment for a Military Spouse Base Tour - Catered Lunch, In the Amount of $800.00 A MOTION was made by Committee Member Bowman, seconded by Committee Member Tuma, to approve a check request for the 1st Marine Regiment for a military spouse base tour - catered lunch, in the amount of $800.00. Discuss and Approve a Check Request for Services for Car Washes from Luxe Detail & Tint, In the Amount of $500.00 A MOTION was made by Committee Member Abrams, seconded by Committee Member Zueck, to approve a check request for car washes from Luxe Detail & Tint, in the amount of $500.00. Discuss and Approve Essay Competition and Approval of the Awards A MOTION was made by Committee Member Bowman, seconded by Committee Member Hoskins, to approve both essays and awards. Discuss and Approve a Military Support Committee Letter Writing Flyer Committee Member Bowman suggested taking out active duty and change "overseas" to "serving and to add an email address. A MOTION was made by Committee Member Zueck, seconded by Committee Member Smith, to approve a Military Support Committee letter writing flyer based upon revisions. Discuss 2025 Event Sponsorship Fundraising Vice Chair Caldwell discussed the sponsorship list and the different levels of sponsorships. She asked that everyone please contact any potential sponsors. Chair McGrath has already contacted CR&R and Vice Chair Caldwell will be contacting Walmart. Committee Member Abrams will contact Toni Pepperoni. Committee Member Bowman stated that the Knights of Columbus will also be donating. 7. Sub-Committee Reports Recommendation Hear reports from: July 4th Celebration = None. Baby Care Packages Vice Chair Caldwell will send out an email to the sub- committee to discuss sponsors and Walmart is confirmed for June 7th & 8th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Care Packages = Sebrina King stated that twin XL sheets, pillows and toilet paper are needed. Car Wash = Discussed in item #3. Holiday Parade - None. Holiday Toy Drive - None. Letter Writing - With the revisions, the flyer was approved. Major Fundraising = Discussed in item #6. Sea Country Festival - The festival will be held August 22nd-24th. Scholarships = Discussed in item #4. Social Media = Committee Member Hoskins stated that she will update the care package flyer. Special Needs - None. Veterans Day - None. 8. Chair Report Vice Chair Caldwell stated that Committee Member Ulrich is improving, and she hoped everyone had a wonderful Easter.
