Beautification Advisory Board Minutes March 17, 2025 STATE OF TEXAS S COUNTY OF TARRANT 3 CITY OF BEDFORD S The Bedford Beautification Advisory Board met in regular session on March 17, 2025, with the following members present: Andrew Woolen - Chairperson Shelby Harveaux Tammy Herrin Rob Wisson Sheila Kudray Karen Jacobsen Mike McGonigle Constituting a quorum. City Council/Staff Representatives: Don Henderson = Parks Department CALL TO ORDER Andrew Woolen, Chairperson, called the Board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Beautification Advisory Board minutes: February 17, 2025 regular meeting. Tammy Herrin moved that the minutes be approved as is; Karen Jacobsen seconded. The motion carried. 2. Council & Staff updates. Parks Superintendent, Don Henderson, updated the Board on the Crud Cruiser event. 158 cars were counted at the "Control Point." 122 cars went through the E-Waste line. Capacity was quickly met, and the event had a great turnout. Most participants were from the 76021 zip code. The board would like to brainstorm on how to get more participation from the 76022 zip code. OLD BUSINESS 3. Discussion and possible action on the annual tree plan. Chairperson Andrew Woolen discussed board members bringing 4-5 trees that they would like to see planted in the City. These should be a variety of trees that will be suitable in different locations. The board is looking for a variety of sizes and trees that are North Texas adaptable. Mike McGonigle, board member and horticulturist by trade, will bring his top 5 trees to the next meeting. 4. Discussion and possible action on budgeted items for fiscal year 2025-2026. Board members proposed projects and budget for each project as follows: Annual Tree Plan: $5000.00 - This would help us plant new trees around the City each year. The City will be involved in choosing location and the board will recommend the best tree plantings and sizes for desired locations each year. Senior Center: $2500.00 - This would be used to help build a senior citizen community center garden to be kept and nurtured by the Senior Citizen's that utilize the center. These funds would go to building the garden beds, soil, seeds, and any other needs to help establish this garden. Fresh Seed: $2000.00 - This is to be used around the City (promoting wildflowers). Misc: $1500.00 - This is annual and will be used for miscellaneous items that come up during the year. The board voted on the above items. Mike McGonigle moved to approve these funds for the upcoming fiscal year starting in October 2025. Shelby Harveaux seconded the motion. The action passed. NEXT MEETING 5. The next scheduled meeting of the Beautification Advisory Board will be April 21, 2025. The next scheduled workday is Saturday, April 12, 2025. ADJOURMMENT There being no additional business, Shelby Harveaux made a motion for adjournment of the meeting; Mike McGonigle seconded the motion.
