Town of Williamsport Mayor & Town Council Regular Session Meeting Minutes - December 9, 2024 On December 9, 2024, the Mayor & Town Council for the Town ofWilliamsport held a Regular Session. Those members of the elected body who were present included Mayor William Green, Assistant Mayor Dennis Grove, Councilman Jim Braswell, Councilman Charles Brown, Councilman Earle Pereschuk, and Councilperson Margaret Yaukey. Town employees in attendance were Chad Rooney, Town Manager, Linda Kuczynski, Tonw Planner, and Ed Kuczynski, Town Attorney. Mayor Green called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and led a moment of silent reflection and the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Green asked for a motion to approve the meeting minutes from the November 12, 2024, Regular Session; Councilman Brown made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Assistant Mayor Grove seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Mayor Green recognized no report from the Board ofZoning Appeals, History & Museum Board, Planning Commission, Land Use, Legal Counsel, nor the Washington County Sheriff S Office. Steve Danfelt, Chairperson of the Board of Elections Supervisors, made a presentation outlining the progression oft the upcoming 2025 election for the positions of Mayor, Assistant Mayor, and two Councilperson seats. A packet of information was presented outlining the deadline for a candidate to file, voter registrations, The Town Election will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025. Linda Kuczynski, Town Planner, provided an update on the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission, which is serving as the steering committee for the town, met with Dan Bowling, Makin Engineering, and began to familiarize themselves with the process of updating the Town's Comprehensive Plan. The commission will continue to keep Town Council updated on progress. Councilperson Yaukey noted she was not in attendance at the last Planning Commission meeting and had no report. Councilman Brown appreciated how well the Lighting of the Park event mentioned about the amount of traffic SO far. Assistant Mayor Grove thanked Mayor Green for his continued efforts on the Celebration of Trees. Councilman Braswell echoed the Assistant Mayor's thanks to the Mayor. He also shared a plpositive experience with the holiday parade and Cocoa Crawl. He noted these events generate foot traffic and visitation in town. He added the school closure schedule and safety ofthe children while they are out playing. Mayor Green thanked the Town employees for their efforts on the holiday parade and Celebration ofTrees. He also mentioned aj potential increase in electric rates to the town, but are not influenced by the town. He wants residents to begin preparing for it. The town is looking at the potential for solar panels and potential use ofin-town properties. Mayor Green outlined the plan to apply for 2026 Program Open Space money to build a pavilion near the barn with potential to include the installation of solar panels. Mayor Green requested a motion to adjourn the meeting; Councilperson Yaukey motioned to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Assistant Mayor Grove; the meeting was adjourned at 6:24pm.
