Town of Williamsport Mayor & Town Council Special Session Meeting Minutes January 7, 2025 On January 7, 2025, the Mayor & Town Council for the Town of Williamsport held a Special Session. Those members of the elected body who were present included Mayor William Green, Assistant Mayor Dennis Grove, Councilman Jim Braswell, Councilman Charles Brown, Councilman Earle Pereschuk, Councilman Tinsley, and Councilperson Margaret Yaukey. Town employees in attendance were Chad Rooney, Town Manager, and Ed Kuczynski, Town Attorney. Mayor Green called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and requested a motion to movei into Executive Session. Councilman Braswell made a motion to move into Executive Session under General Provisions Article $3-305 (b)(3) to consider the acquisition of real property for a public purpose and matters directly related to the acquisition. Assistant Mayor Grove seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The Mayor and Town Council moved into Executive Session at 6:02pm. The Mayor and Town Council reconvened in Special Session at 6:46pm. Mayor Green asked for a motion to approve the item discussed in the Executive Session. Councilman Braswell made a motion to pass, as an emergency ordinance, Ordinance 2025-01 Authorizing the Acquisition of Certain Real Estate Pursuant to the Provisions of the local Government Article Annotated Code of Maryland and the Charter of the Town of Williamsport, Maryland (Springfield Farm) specifically allowing the Mayor and Town Council to offer $1,400,000.00 for acquisition of the property, authorize the mayor to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Resolution and Ordinance including the Contract of Sale, and to accept deed for the property, authorize the Town Attorney to take all necessary measures to effectuate the purposes ofthe ordinance, and authorize Town employees to act in a manner to effectuate the Resolution and Ordinance; Assistant Mayor Grove seconded; t motion passed unanimously. Mayor Green provided an opportunity for past Fire Chief Will Ball to present information on the number ofc calls the fire department completed for the last several months of2 2024, thank the Mayor and Town Council for their donation, and explained the donation off set money which will be used to provide maintenance to the department's brush truck. Mayor Green thanked past Chief Will Ball for his advocacy of the fire and EMS department and the town. Councilman Brown echoed his thanks and requested a standing ovation for past Chief Will Ball. Mayor Green asked for a motion to adjourn. Councilman Tinsley made a motion to adjourn the Special Session; Assistant Mayor Grove seconded; the meeting was adjourned at 6:55pm.
