Jabas El MINUTES Aransas Pass City Council Special Meeting Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 5:30 pm City Hall - Council Chambers jeve 600 W. Cleveland Blvd., Aransas Pass, Texas 78336 mayne 1. Call to Order and Certification of a Quorum Mayor Gomez called the Aransas Pass City Council Special Meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. With Council Members present, a quorum was established. Council Members present: Mayor Pro-Tem Carrie Scruggs, Council Members Jason Knight, Joe Dominguez, J. R. Haskins, and Mayor Gomez. Staff present: City Manager Mary Juarez, City Secretary Kandice Garrett, and Planning Director Brenda Joyas. Also present was City Attorney Epimenio Ysassi. City Manager Mary Juarez announced to Council that the Executive Session item on the agenda will not be discussed at the meeting. 2. Discussion Items Items in this section are not expected to require action by City Council and are generally for information only. a. Mobile Food Units at Conn Brown Harbor Planning Director Brenda Joyas presented this item and informed the Council of reasons for the mobile food trucks at the Harbor which were to attract more people, create more business, increase the time people stay, and build market potential for future investors along with the recommendation for two locations. Ms. Joyas also went over the points in the ordinance. There was further discussion from the Council and several citizens came forward to give their input. Teresa Lindberg, owner of Mama T's food truck and Aransas Pass resident, spoke in favor of having mobile food trucks at the Harbor. Kenneth Weaver, owner of Boots BBQ food truck and Aransas Pass resident, spoke in favor of having mobile food trucks at the Harbor. Doug Gresenz spoke in favor of having mobile food trucks at the Harbor. City Manager Mary Juarez made a recommendation to Council the option of a temporary three month trial run to see how it goes. There was discussion on the days and times of the week and consensus from the Council to bring the item back at the next meeting to take action. 3. Executive Session All items listed in this section will be deliberated in a closed session. Members of the public are not generally permitted to attend a closed session. Texas Government Code Section 551. 071 - To meet with its attorney to seek legal advice on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the city council under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the state bar of Texas clearly conflicts with the Texas Open Meetings Act relating to: i. Fire Station and Police Station Renovations Project 4.
