MEETING MINUTES CALLED JOINT WORK SESSION WITH AHPSB AND ACBOS MARCH 18, 2025 The Alleghany Highlands Public School Board (AHPSB) called for a joint work session meeting with the Alleghany Highlands Board ofs Supervisors (ACBOS). This meeting was hosted by the City of Covington on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers ofCity Hall, located at 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia. City ofCovington Mayor William E. Carson Jr. called the meeting to order, reconvening from the previous council meeting held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Carson requested City Clerk Amber N. Nicely to confirm that all council members were present. The council members in attendance were Mayor Carson, Vice Mayor Fred Forbes III, Councilwoman Susan S. Crowder, and Councilwoman Susan S. Wolfe. City Manager Allen Dressler was also in attendance, and Councilman Raymond C. Hunter arrived later. Mayor Carson then turned the meeting over to. ACBOS board member Matt Garten, who called the meeting to order for ACBOS and subsequently handed it over to the. AHPSB. AHPSB Chairman John Littleton thanked everyone for attending and requested a roll call for the AHPSB. Chairman Littleton stated that the purpose of the meeting was to inform the City of Covington Council and the ACBOS about the Alleghany Highlands Public School's Superintendent's budget considerations for the fiscal year 2025-2026. He then turned the meeting over to Alleghany Highlands Public Schools Superintendent Kim Halterman. Superintendent Halterman presented the budget considerations for the fiscal year 2025-2026 and then introduced Alleghany Highlands Teacher Tracy Persinger, who delivered a presentation on the current and future revenues ofthe AHPS system. Following Mrs. Persinger's presentation, Mrs. Halterman opened the floor for discussions by the City ofCovington's Council and ACBOS members. Both Mrs. Halterman and Mrs. Persinger responded to questions from the Council and ACBOS. After concluding their presentations, Mayor Carson called for the meeting to be adjourned. Vice Mayor Forbes motioned for the adjournment, and Councilman Hunter seconded the motion. Mr. Garten then requested the ACBOS to adjourn. The motion was made by Mr. Nicely and seconded by Mr. Arritt, with all in favor responding with an "aye." Mr. Littleton thanked Mrs. Persinger for her time and effort, then requested the. AHPSB to adjourn. The motion was made by Mr. Woodson and seconded by Mr. Arritt. With no further business to address, the meeting was adjourned.
