April 09, 2025 City Traffic Commission Written Public Comments Item #4.1 -Original Message- From: DALE HOLDE Sent: Wednesday, April 9, 2025 2:39 PM To: Gabrielle Hayes ghayeedtyolorangeor Subject: Traffic Commission Meeting Mrs. Hayes (Gabby), It was my full intent to come and speak at the Traffic Commission Meeting tonight but have been under the weather for the last couple of days and am still feeling a little lousy (maybe the flu). I do believe that a couple of my neighbors are going to come and speak but don't know as they own their own businesses, SO it is hard for them to take off work. Could you please forward this letter from me to the Traffic Commission SO at least they have something to base their decision on? To the Traffic Commission, At the last meeting, you talked about extending the red curb no parking lines an additional 5 feet SO it opens up a clear line of sight when you turn on to Citrus St from Chapman ave. This is a great idea and would make it easier for any car to turn on to or off of Chapman ave but there still is a problem. On Tuesdays, the Snap On tool truck has no place to park because of all of the trucks from the Auto Diesel shop parking on the West side of the street(this is the side where the proposed 1 hr parking sign will go). Since there is no place for the Snap On truck to park, he parks in the red curb no parking area making it very hard to see around his truck when turning on to Citrus St from Chapman and there is going to 1 be a major accident some day (I have been there believe me). In all fairness, it is the only place the Snap On truck can park because of the old trucks that are parked on the West side oft the street that just sit there for weeks at a time. By extending the red curb 51 feet, the Snap On truck can at least pull up 5 feet to give some better sight but he still has to park in the red because of the trucks parked there never being moved. You also talked about putting a 1 hour parking sign on the West side of the street because the Auto Diesel continues to use a public street to park their trucks that need to be or have been worked on for days on end and even weeks on end. It makes it very difficult to drive down the street when another vehicle is driving in the opposite direction. Also, it is very difficult to see a vehicle that is exiting the medical building because there is a truck parked in front and behind the driveway, your view is very limited and there will be a accident someday. A1 hour parking sign would be great sO it would open up the line of sight and would also widen the street and give additional room for emergency vehicles. Ify you all remember at the last meeting, was the only one to speak on behalf of residents that live on Citrus St. got a chance to speak with the owner and manager of the Auto Diesel shop before the meeting sO maybe we could reach an agreement and resolve the problem with the trucks being parked on the West side ofthe street for days and even weeks on end. They gave me their word that they would work real hard to get their trucks off the street as fast as they could SO other people would have a place to park. asked the Traffic Commission at the last meeting that maybe we could revisit the 1 hour parking issue for a later date to give the Auto Diesel business time to resolve their parking issues. Well, here we are today at the Traffic Commission meeting and nothing has changed with the Auto Diesel business and they broke their word to me and to you. They continue to park their trucks there with no intention of moving anywhere. They leave their trucks parked there 24/7 and doesn't really care what the city does or thinks. All of the trucks parked up and down our street make our street look like a ghetto. Our Mayor has been down our street and says it looks bad, our City Manager has been down our street and says it looks bad and Councilman Dumitru has been down our street and said it looks very bad. Hopefully, ify you proceed with the 1 hour parking sign and the 51 feet extension of the red curb, it will resolve some ofi the parking issues on our street. The 1 hour parking sign on the East side of the street has been pretty successful SO far, thank you for that one. I live at There are rarely parking spaces in front of my house. Over these past couple of weeks, a minivan was parked all day and night. They blocked the mailbox, kept me from being able to trim the median, and made it more difficult for people to drop off animal rescue supplies (very important to me). They also throw trash and cigarette butts in my yard. It has become a significant problem. would also like to add that Renee st. should be considered. I'm not sure why it wasn't. People use it as an automotive repair zone; with groups of men hanging out at all hours. It's clearly not being used for parking by the residents. Please consider adding it or giving instructions on how to add it. Thank you. Catherine Turley Guest User Location: Submitted At: 1:58pm 04-09-25 live at orange and in support of parking permits on both sides of E. Avenida Palmer. People that live in the condos off Rancho Santiago blvd routinely park up & down Avenida Palmer as well on Thora right where Avenida & Palmer meet. When I walk my dog, these people leave trash such as alcoholic beverages and their cardboard carries in our bushes as well on sidewalk. They even park on the sidewalk blocking the sidewalk SO I have to go around into the street where cars are ILLEGALLY doubled parked forcing me to get in the way of on coming cars. Because of all the illegal double parking from not having parking permit signs, it has become VERY DANGEROUS not just to walk but to drive as well. We have also seen an uptick of cars randomly parking surveying out our neighborhood to steal packages and as of recently one of neighbors cars was STOLEN. We desperately need parking permit signs for the SAFETY of our community and our children.
