DORRIS CITY COUNCIL MINUETS REGULAR MEETING AT CITY HALL MONDAY April 07th, 2025 AT 6:00pm Call to order: Abner Weed Flag Salute: Abner Weed Roll Call: Abner Weed, Stan Beck, Robert Baldwin, Barry Barkman Absent: Donald Clontz. Business oft the Audience: Several Concerned citizens came forward. regarding the smell ofthe water. The Coumcil thanked those in attendance for bring the issue to coumcil' 's attention, will be added to a future agenda item. Discussion no action. 1. Approval of Agenda: Mr. Baldwin made a motion to approve the agenda. Mr. Beck Seconded. Motion Passed Unanimously. 2. Siskiyou County Sheriff's Report: None Present. 3. Fire Department Report: Representative Matt Smith presented the new fire chief and chief assistant. With Matt Smith as the New Fire Chief and Jose Hernandez as his second in command. Discussion no action. 4. Accept letter of resignation for Fire Chief: Mr. Baldwin Made a motion to approve the letter of resignation from previous Fire Chief Warren Smith. Mr. Barkman Seconded. Motion passed Unanimously. 5. 324 N Butte would like the council to have the high fence removed by her neighbor as it does not meet the fence requirements: Representative of324 N. Butte St. presented the issue has been resolved thanks to the swift action oft the City of Dorris Staff and Abatement Officer. Discussion no action. 6. MOU between the City of Dorris and Butte Valley Youth Sports for use of the Baseball fields, concession stand, and bathrooms: Butte Valley Youth Sports Representative was present. Gave Presentation on the use of the city of Dorris concession stand. 7. 120 W 3rd street would like tickets canceled and to be allowed to park where they need to for construction. (Information/Action) 8. Dorris Lions Club representative Kay Scholar would like to have the fee waived for the use of McKay Park for the 4th of July and have use of the concession stand. A. Dorris lion's club representative would like to ask for a donation for 4" of. July festivities: Dorris Lions representative was present, requesting Donation form city ofl Dorris and the wayer of all rental fees. Mr. Baldwin made a motion to approve donation to the Dorris lions club in the amount of$700.00 and to waye all rental fees for the 4"h OfJuly festivities. Mr. Barkman Seconded. JD Bembry and Lacey Grace would like to get the farmers that aren't organic yet to become organic, get consignment packages of seeds and paperwork to bring a percentage of profit back to the community. Discussion no Action/ b. Update on USDA grant for heater: City Admin gave update, USDA grant did not receive funding this year, will look into other grants. Discussion no action. C. 336 S Main: City admin presented council with the option to buy 336 S. Main st, or to let the property go to auction. Mr. Baldwin motioned to let 336 S. Main St, go to auction. Mr. Barkman Seconded motion Passed unanimously. 17. Closed Session-Employee appointment, evaluation, dismissal pursuant to (Gov. Code 54957) Public Works: Closed: 7:19pm, Reopened: 8:01pm. Mr. Weed announced the closed session was held to resolve personnel issue and discuss in better" detail solutions to the stench of the water. 18.
