COUNCIL AND STAFF VERBAL REPORTS = Section 2 2.1 COUNCIL VERBAL REPORTS Legislative, Collaborative Agency, Ad Hoc Council Member Chavez attended the League of California Cities Central Division Quarterly meeting with the City Administrator and the New Community Development Director Quintana. Mayor Pro Tem Troost attended the FFA Beers and Brats fundraising dinner. Mayor Smith also attended the Chowchilla FFA Beers and Brats fundraiser, plus the Chowchilla Girls Softball opener. 2.2 STAFF VERBAL REPORTS Police Chief Palmer went over departmental stats since last council meeting, discussed recent public safety incidents, and reported on the now completed encrypted radio project. City Council Meeting MINUTES March 25, 2025 Fire Chief Gaumnitz reported on a grant application specific to his department. Public Works Director Rogers reported that Caltrans sent us the 60% design plans for the SR 233/Robertson Blvd CAPM project for review and comment last week. Robertson Beautification Project has experienced scheduling delays. The anchor bolts and poles for the flashing beacons and pedestrian push buttons are being held up by the pole supplier until they get source inspected by Caltrans. We are working with them to expedite this process sO that the contractor can complete the remaining work. He attended a League of CA Cities Public Works Officers Conference last week; many good sessions and hope to implement some of the stuff that was learned. City staff is working with Mid Valley Disposal this week on the annual Curbside Cleanup event that ends on the 28th. For a list of items that can be disposed, visit the City's website. And finally, his department have hired two Wastewater OITs that will be starting April 14th pending medical and background. This brings us to three total positions and wastewater almost fully staffed. Community & Economic Development Director Quintana attended the League of California Cities Central Division Quarterly meeting. Deputy Director of Recreation & Community Engagement Wisener reported on the Easter event preparation; assisting sports leagues with fields, reported on upcoming recruitment. City Clerk McClendon reminded those who file FPPC Form 700's of the April 1 deadline to submit.
