CALL TO ORDER: The Waycross City Commission Meeting was called to order on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5:00 pm by Mayor James. The meeting was held in the Commission Chambers of City Hall. Present were Commissioners Katrena Felder, Shawn Roberts, Alvin Nelson, and Mayor Pro Temp, Sheinita Bennett, A. Invocation: City Attorney Invocation led by, Huey Spearman, Interim City Attorney B. Pledge of Allegiance C. City Clerk to Read Section 2-66 (a) - Decorum. Read by the City Clerk, Jacqualine Powell D. Request Motion to Approve Agenda Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Bennett. All voted in favor and the motion passed. II. PUBLIC REMARKS ON OFFICIAL ACTIONS Tim Peacock, 906 Euclid Avenue, Waycross Georgia- spoke on the need to fill the vacancy in District 4 at the June Special Election III. EXECUTIVE DUTIES: A. A Resolution to Order A Special Election to Fill the Vacancy in the Office ofCommissioner of The City of Waycross, Georgia, Election District 4, Created by the Death of Diane Hopkins; To Fix the Qualifying Fee and Period for Qualification for said Office; To Authorize the Board of Elections and Registration of Ware County, Georgia, To Perform All Duties as Superintendent of Elections Associated with said Special Election and Runoff, If Any, Pursuant To the Official Code of Georgia Annotated Section 21-2-45(c); And to Authorize the City Clerk to Perform All Duties of Superintendent of Elections for the Qualification of Candidates for Said Special Election. There was no motion made on this Resolution. This Resolution Died. There was a motion made by Mayor Pro Temp Shenita Bennett to move this election to the November's election, seconded by Commissioner Roberts. Vote taken for this motion was; taken District-1, Shawn Roberts-Y, District-2, Sheinita Bennett-Y, District-3, Katrena Felder-N, and Dirstrict-5, Alvin Nelson-Y.
