PUBLIC COMMENT - Michelle Erickson asked council if there was any update on the police merger with Center Township. President Williams replied that no discussions have taken place, nor has anything been agreed upon. COMMITTEE REPORTS A. POLICE (MAYOR AND CHIEF) = Monthly police report was submitted. B. ROADS AND BRIDGES - A COG (Council of Governments) application was submitted to the council. Road supervisor Jeff Mortimer recommended joining to access joint bidding/purchasing, making road supplies and materials more affordable. a. MOTION TO APPROVE COG APPLICATION - Motion by Joe Hawthorne and seconded by Josh Ordich to approve the application and participate in COG .motion passed unanimously. C. MOTOR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT -None D. BUILDING AND GROUNDS - Jeff reported that the furnace motor in the water building has gone bad. He received a quote from Homer Nine and is awaiting another from a different company. The council unanimously decided to table this purchase until other options have been explored. E. PARKS AND RECREATION - Cindy Mortimer briefly updated the council on her and Jeff's inspection of park repairs to gather better quotes and ideas. F. WATER AND SEWER - None VEOLIA WATER REPORT - Dennis Ottaviani reported that Shippingport's water is in compliance and reviewed the submitted DEP report, which outlined water quality and suggested improvements like monitoring, synchronization, chlorine levels, flushing, and new lines. Jason Stanton from LSSE Engineering provided a general overview and service order, revisiting water supply options discussed in the last meeting. These included replacing wells, establishing a water authority, or installing an activated carbon filter. He briefly outlined each option for the council and highlighted the availability of grants for such projects, cautioning that deadlines are approaching ifi the council wishes to move forward. SOLICITOR'S REPORT - The solicitor reported that a natural gas company recently held aj public informational meeting regarding a proposed pipeline. He stated that the pipeline would impact Shippingport, Raccoon, and Independence. Although the proposed project is still in early development and no final decisions have been made, he informed the council that it will be a topic for discussion later in the year. Additionally, the solicitor reviewed the survey permission forms submitted by the gas company with the council. He noted that the council must decide whether or not to grant the company permission to conduct a survey on borough property for the proposed project. The solicitor also discussed the second logging plan and application submitted by Shippingport Industrial Park. He explained that approving the plan could benefit the community by facilitating redevelopment, ultimately increasing tax revenue for the borough rather than leaving the land unused. To ensure compliance, the road supervisor, Jeff, investigated whether the company has been adhering to its plans and maintaining the area properly. Jeff confirmed that everything is in order and that the company is following DEP and Shippingport's timber guidelines.
