STATE OF TEXAS S COUNTY OF RUNNELS CITY OF BALLINGER S On the 10th day of February 2025, the Ballinger Parks Board met at 5:30p.m. in the Council Chambers ofthe City Hall located at 700 Railroad Avenue with the following members present: Jennifer Flores, Park Board Chairperson Cheryl King Elaine Paske Tony Flores Carrie Flores (absent) Lindsey Gayoso, City Manager 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chairperson Flores called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 2. CITIZEN PRESENTATIONS FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA: N/A 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS: Cale, a new citizen of Ballinger expressed his concern about the park equipment and stickers and offered to help spray and fix equipment. He left his name and number for members to contact him when park work is being done. 4. APPROVE MINUTES: Approve minutes of the November 12, 2024 meeting and the minutes of the January 14, 2025 meeting. Elaine made a motion to approve both minutes. Tony seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. 5. FINANCIAL REPORT: No transactions reported except the interest earned. Elaine moved to accept the report. Tony seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. 6. Splash Pad/ Pool Update: Lindsey reported that the mushroom will pull too much water for the splash pad and electricity. In replacing the mushroom, we can utilize two small features instead. We will have a total of 5 footing bases with 2 being capped off for future spouts. a. Decide on features: Elaine made a motion to approve the two-bucket dump in colors blue and green, the fire hydrant in red, and the 3-flower spout in orange and purple with the acceptance of price detail and break down prior to ordering. Tony seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. b. Breakdown of cost: The City originally allocated $30,795 for the kid pool to be resurfaced. Weare nowallocating that towards the splash pad with the help ofthe Park Board to be able to have this in working condition and if needed we can put the remaining towards the budget for next year. Upcoming Events: a. EATER EGG HUNT UPDATE- The board agreed to spend $700-$750 on candy for the hunt. Elaine stated that oriental trading currently has free shipping. b. Hotter than hell cookoff/ RV hookups: All hookups are 50 amp and campers will need to bring a split. C. Senior Scholarships i. Requirements/ Amount: Kim Castleberry presented the board with a document to go by for the scholarship. The board agreed to remove the annual income. The board also would like to keep the yellow highlighted essay questions along with adding your story question from the gray area. The essay will need to contain at least 300 words, and scholarships will be sent to the school of choice. Elaine made a motion to present 2-$500 scholarships to a deserving senior. Cheryl seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 8. Volleyball Court/ Washer Pit: according to last year and previous years the City has provided the sand for the volleyball court and the washer pit. Lindsey will get with Cord on the specifics of getting the sand for the court. Tony explained he does not want to go with sand on the washer pits. Competitors do not like it and would rather have dirt. 9. SETTOPICS FOR THE NEXT MEETING: Scholarship, Splash Pad 10. SET DATE FOR THE NEXT MEETING: March 11, 2025 11.
