BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Finance PlanningZoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on September 20, 2021, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. The meeting was called to order by President Reed at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS PRESENT VISITORS Bryon Reed Jeffrey Hausman Jason Ruff Austin Berger Thomas Bartholomew Jeralyn Schoch Kevin Steckel Joe Wechsler PUBLIC COMMENT: Jeffrey Hausman - Was recognized to speak. Jeffrey thanked the road crew for picking up the garbage on the trail. A. FINANCE/PLANNINGIZONING Thomas Bartholomew- Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Jason Ruff 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. The committee reviewed the draft audit and documents for 2019 from CRY. Councilor Bartholomew would like this placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. PUBLIC SAFETY Kevin Steckel-Chairman; Members: Thomas Bartholomew, Jason Ruff 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: Austin Berger informed the committee that he is still waiting for estimates for the LED sign. President Reed asked Austin Berger if the current fire trucks would still be serviced by KME. There were no questions from the committee members; the Public Safety Committee meeting was adjourned. C. HUMAN/COMMUNITY SERVICES Jason Ruff - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Thomas Bartholomew a. The committee reviewed the request from Lindsay Taylor to use Victory Park for its 5th Annual Candy Cane Hunt on Saturday, December 11th, 2021, from 1 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Councilor Ruff would like this placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. b. The committee reviewed the request from Kylie Adams to hold the Slatington Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Councilor Ruff would like this placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. C. The committee reviewed the request from Catherine Wieand requesting a bench, or 2, at Victory Park in memory of her father Franklin Wieand. Councilor Ruff suggested obtaining quotes for benches that anyone that would purchase in memory. Councilor Ruff suggested that Manager Stevens contact vendors for benches. d. The committee discussed an estimate from Nicholson Security, LLC, deposit of $1,812.92, for a total cost of $3,625.84, for security cameras at the amphitheater in Victory Park. Councilor Ruff would like this placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. There were no questions from the committee members; the Fluman/Community Services Committee meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: COURTESY TO THE FLOOR: Councilor Bartholomew made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Ruff, to adjourn.
