BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on August 23, 2021, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Reed at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS Bryon Reed Mayor Niedermeyer Jeffrey Hausman Joseph Wechsler Justin Gross David Schnaars Daniel Stevens Ronald Kratz PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY David Schnaars - Members: Joseph Wechsler, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed a quote from Bruce George Paving & Excavating, Inc. for removal and replacement of Slate Heritage Trail damaged from flood for $6,350.00. Manager Stevens has had a hard time obtaining quotes. This project could be done with the COVID19 LFRF. Councilor Schnaars would like this placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. b. The committee discussed possible projects for COVID19 LFRF. Mayor Niedermeyer is requesting a push lawn mower. Councilor Schnaars suggested going to Boyer's S for a mower. Another suggestion was the connector for the traffic light that was not in the bid. C. President Reed provided an update on listing of 1997 small dump truck for sale. President Reed stated that the brakes are not working and suggested the brakes be repaired. Councilor Schnaars requested the sale of the old zero turn mower be placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. d. Justin Gross provided an update on the Church Street CDBG project and traffic light at Main and Church. Justin stated that Bruce George just signed and returned the notice of award, but they were never registered with SAM.gov. They are in the process of registering with SAM. A pre- construction meeting will be scheduled. e. Councilor Schnaars asked if there was any training for general equipment use safety. Manager Stevens stated there is a safe driving training. Manager Stevens informed the committee the Safety Committee had their annual inspections and had supplemental training. Councilor Schnaars is requesting Manager Stevens to check on safety seminars with Brown & Brown. f. Manager Stevens stated that the AMS skin patching project is completed. All areas we marked were completed along with some additional areas. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler - Chairman; Members: David Schnaars, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Councilor Wechsler informed the committee the tar and chip on the driveways was completed. Councilor Wechsler thanked Manager Stevens. b. Councilor Wechsler stated they are in the process of power washing the tanks in preparation for painting. C. Councilor Wechsler mentioned the reed bed vegetation maintenance may be due. Manager Stevens informed the committee the borough had an MS4 audit. Manager Stevens stated there were no violations. However, there some items of concern which will be rectified. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, David Schnaars 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed a quote from Emergency Systems Service Company for generator for $1707.46. Councilor Kratz would like this placed on the next regular agenda for approval. The borough will replace the battery in the water generator. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Starting in September agendas must be completed no later than Thursdays Manager Stevens was informed by State Rep. Zach Mako's office that PennDOT is doing radar and traffic counts on Rt 873. Manager Stevens informed the committee that he has not received feedback on the possible tenants for the available office.
