BOROUGH OF SLATINGION The Finance Planning/Zoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on April 18, 2022 in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew, at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS PRESENT VISITORS Thomas Bartholomew Mayor Schoch Jeffrey Hausman Ronald Kratz Daniel Stevens Ronald Hausman Kevin Steckel Austin Berger Zachari Halkias PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. FINANCE/PLANNINGIZONING Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. Manager Stevens informed the committee that the new quote for the copier lease did not include a booklet finisher for the Borough office. This will be tabled until the end of the lease. b. Moratorium on the conversion of single-family dwellings to multi-family dwellings. Councilor Kratz had spoken to Attorney Healy and was informed that this could be done based on the square footage allocation. This will be reviewed upon hiring a new solicitor. C. Permits for each car above 2 cars per household. Councilor Kratz had spoken to Attorney Healy and was informed this could be done. This will be reviewed upon hiring a new solicitor. There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. PUBLIC SAFETY Kevin Steckel - Chairman; Members: Ronald Kratz, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. The committee reviewed bids from Palmerton Garage Door for replacement door operators in fire company for $15,430.00. Manager Stevens stated there is a possibility of another grant that the Borough could apply for. Manager Stevens said there is a Lehigh County grant that would be worth pursuing. This is an open-ended grant and does not have a final submission date. This IS to be addressed after more information concerning the grant is obtained. There was a discussion as to whether it would be better to go for the COVID19 LFRF for a quicker turn around. Austin Berger is concerned about the doors getting repaired quickly. b. The committee discussed obtaining a chip reader for police to read chips for pets (cats & dogs). The cost of a chip reader is approximately $327.00. This will be placed on the next regular council agenda for approval. There were no questions from the committee members; the Public Safety Committee meeting was adjourned. C.
