BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Finance Planning/Zoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on October 17, 2022, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS PRESENT VISITORS Thomas Bartholomew Daniel Stevens Aaron Schoch Ronald Kratz Mayor Schoch Jeffrey Hausman Kevin Steckel Ronald Hausman Zachari Halkias PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. FINANCEPLANNINGIZONING Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. Councilor Kratz made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Steckel, to amend agenda to discuss addendum lease agreement with Rep. Zachary Mako and to possibly place it on the next regular council agenda. President Bartholomew declared the motion passed following a Voice Vote, All in Favor. Manager Stevens stated that the only change is the previous lease is the rent of $700.00. The proposed lease would increase it by $25.00 per month. b. Councilor Kratz made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Steckel, to amend agenda to discuss the time table for 2023 budget. President Bartholomew declared the motion passed following a Voice Vote, All in Favor. Manager Stevens is planning to start working on the budget early in November. The plan would be to have the preliminary budget accepted on November 28, at a special meeting. It has to be on display for 10 days for the public before final adoption The final budget could be accepted on December 12th at the regular meeting. There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. PUBLIC SAFETY Kevin Steckel - Chairman; Members: Ronald Kratz, Lachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. Primer for the pump on Unit 2412 is being repaired (informational only) 1 b. Manager Stevens stated that the chimney at the fire company has separated a little from the building. Manager Stevens asked the committee if they would like to have the mason look at it. Mr. Bachman is currently working at the police station and the Vigilant. Another suggestion is to place straps around it to secure it. There were no questions from the committee members; the Public Safety Committee meeting was adjourned. C. HUMAN/COMMUNITY SERVICES Zachari Halkias = Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Ronald Kratz 1.
