BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on September 16, 2019, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by Pro Tem Reed at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS Bryon Reed Daniel Stevens Dave Lear Ed Zielger Ronald Kratz Joseph Wechsler PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Bryon Reed - Members: Joseph Wechsler, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed the audit report for the liquid fuels tax fund for the period of1/1/2017 to 12/31/2018. b. The committee will review the list of recommended stop signs from Chief Rachman C. The committee is waiting for more information for the UGI Regulator Station Right of Way. Councilor Reed informed the committee that he will have the highway crew black top on Long Alley, coming from the alley next to the Hankee home north, and cold patch other areas. This street always washes out. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler - Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Councilor Wechsler informed the committee another meeting will be held on Thursday for the digester project. This meeting will be to review all the work that was done. At this point Duane Szczesny will be putting in sludge. b. Councilor Wechsler would like to get the gallons coming for the I&I tracking from Washington and Walnutport during the storms and subtract them from ours and see how much water there is. When there is an overflow, the borough gets the fine. This would be done over a period of time. He would like to create a chart to show the EPA that it is not only Slatington causing the over flow, but Washington and Walnutport also. C. Councilor Reed and Councilor Wechsler went to a meeting with Walnutport at our Slatington sewer plant in regard to the VFD's. They discussed the possibility ofi installing a VFD pumps. Walnutport is considering this option. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Dave Lear informed the committee there had been a pre-construction meeting concerning the PA Small Water grant for Shadow Oaks. There will be about 3 valves added and one line that was dead will not be tied in. The estimated completion time should be done by the beginning of November, weather permitting. b. Councilor Kratz stated there are 3 phases for the surge protection proposal. We have decided to do the first phase. We are still waiting for information. Ift that goes well, we will continue with phases 2 and 3. C. The committee discussed an e-mail from Andre, a representative from Roberts, relating to Robert' s panel and software upgrade. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned.
