BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on April 25, 2022, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS Thomas Bartholomew Justin Gross Bryon Reed Daniel Stevens Joseph Wechsler (via phone) Jeffrey Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Jeffrey Hausman - Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. TASA Grant (Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside) Funding Borough of Slatington will receive $400,000 of the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law money for the 100 Steps project. (informational only) b. The committee discussed the sale of mower and police cars. Councilor Hausman stated that one police car is ready to go, but there has not been enough time to get the other police car ready. Photos and advertising must still be done to sell the Crown Victoria and mower. Councilor Hausman read a letter from Justin stating that unfortunately PennDOT did not select Shadow Oaks for the 2022-23 Multimodal Transportation Funding. Justin Gross provided a draft from Lindsey Taylor from the NRLA for the improvements to the bathrooms at Victory Park. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed, Jeffrey Hausman 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Councilor Wechsler provided an update on the LCA televising sewer lines. The software problems have been fixed. Manager Stevens added that LCA came back today, but had to leave early due to problems elsewhere. They will not be charging the Borough for any of their previous work (when the software was not working properly). b. Councilor Wechsler stated that Duane has been adding the new "bugs" to the process and it seems to be working, which means we are on track for permit this month. C. The committee discussed seasonal help at the sewer plant. The committee suggested hiring the seasonal employee from last year. Councilor Hausman suggested hiring a seasonal employee for the Highway Dept to help with cutting the 1 grass. President Bartholomew would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATER/SPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Bryon Reed - Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Joseph Wechsler 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee discussed the block wall repair at the water plant: Quote $1,917.12 if Borough does the excavation; Quote $2,317.12 if they do the excavation. The committee agreed to recommend the quote for $1,917.32. President Bartholomew would like this plaçed on the next regular council agenda. b. The committee reviewed 3 quotes for work on chemical clarifier cleaning. Water Professionals is $15,460; Carbon Filtration is $15,800; Blue Earth Products $16,500. Councilor Reed would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned. D.
