BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on September 23, 2024, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Schnaars at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS David Schnaars Jeralyn Schoch None Kevin Steckel Justin Gross Aaron Schoch William Schippers PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Aaron Schoch Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, William Schippers 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Update concerning proposed easements for Masonic Lodge Community Center. Justin Gross stated he has the estimate at approximately $109,000.00 to put the stormwater underground. This estimate includes all necessary work. The committee agreed to table this to the next committee meeting for the stormwater. b. Update on CDBG projects. Justin Gross informed the committee the at the North Street CDBG project has aj pre-construction meeting on Wednesday, 9/25/24, at 1:00 PM at the borough hall. For 5th Street they are currently working on the submission to PennDOT as far as stormwater and sidewalk permits. The have also received the extension approved from the county, sO the new deadline for North Street is November 22"d, 2024, and 5th Street deadline is September 15th, 2025. C. Visioning. Councilor Schoch would like to get the roads done up by the school. Justin Gross informed the committee that the borough has was approved for all 3 CDBG grants next year. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER William Schippers - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel. Aaron Schoch 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Discussion concerning request for increased capacity from Walnutport. President Schnaars stated that the engineers will be working on that. They had requested an additional 20,000 gallons capacity, which they have paid $284,000.00 to the borough. Walnutport has asked for an additional 20,000 gallons. The Sewer Authority must agree to this. b. Visioning none currently. President Schnaars informed the committee that the borough will be obtaining bids for the contract for the backup generators service contracts. This will be placed on the next regular council agenda. I 1 President Schnaars stated that the borough' s garbage company's contract expires in January. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Kevin Steckel - Chairman; Members: Aaron Schoch, William Schippers 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed and discussed the Copco Compressor Services quote. The committee agreed to table until more information can be obtained. b. The committee discussed the broken water fountain at Trailhead. President Schnaars stated that the Venture Group feels it should just come out. The approximate cost to fix would be $5,000.00. Justin Gross did find prices for $2,500.00 from Global Industrial. The committee agreed to table for more information. C. Update on Maple Spring waterline replacement (Small Water and Sewer Grant). Justin Gross stated that they filled the notice of award packet. Once they have received that, they can setup a pre-construction meeting. d. Visioning. Councilor Steckel would like to purchase a new vehicle or backhoe. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Water/Special Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. D.
