BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on July 25, 2022, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS Thomas Bartholomew Justin Gross Crystal Hausman Bryon Reed Daniel Stevens Ronald Hausman Joseph Wechsler (via phone) Jeffrey Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Jeffrey Hausman - Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Councilor Hausman informed the committee that the borough crew does have an emergency generator, but it is old and not sure if it would be compatible for the borough's needs. Manager Stevens stated that he was informed that the generator they have would not work. Manager Stevens stated that it would be advisable to obtain a generator that could be used for various purposes. The committee reviewed generator specifications and pricing obtained from Manager Stevens. The committee agreed to purchase the Generac 10,000 watt, 420 CC, for $1,149.00. Councilor Hausman would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. b. Councilor Hausman suggested the discussion on people speeding to cut from Rte. 837 to Main St through Iron Alley (resident complaint) could be referred to the police department to monitor the traffic. Councilor Hausman questioned if a stop sign could be placed there. C. The committee reviewed the quote from Stafursky Paving for various patches total for 3 patches $8,198.37. The committee discussed other streets that must be done. This would be paid for with COVID19 LFRF. Councilor Hausman suggested we cancel due to lack of information and obtain more bids, and the committee agreed. d. Councilor Hausman discussed vehicle maintenance. Councilor Hausman stated that the police department, fire department, and borough vehicles seem to be in need of vehicle maintenance on a routine basis. Police cars must continue to run due to the on-board computers. Manager Stevens offered to send a memo to each department to have them check their vehicle fluids before using the vehicles or equipment. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler - Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed, Jeffrey Hausman 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Manager Stevens provided a detailed report from LCA on televising sewer lines and laterals. The report is located in the office for anyone who wishes to read it. 1 I b. President Bartholomew suggested having Manager Stevens contact ARRO and Kenny for any recommendations for the digester lid removal. C. Manager Stevens stated that everything has been submitted for the insurance claim on the lightning strike. At this time, we have not received any money, but Travelers is working on it. Manager Stevens stated that he submitted the portable air conditioner and fan since they have been used for temporary cooling for over a month. d. Sewer Plant will make permit for this month (informational only) Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Bryon Reed - Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Joseph Wechsler 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed a quote from Allied Control Services, Inc. for pressure switch/gauge proposal at a cost of$5,680.00. Manager Stevens will check to see if the quote is still valid since it is over 30 days old. Councilor Reed would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. Being no further questions from the committee members, and sO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATINAL ITEMS: None E.
