BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Finance Planning/Zoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on October 21, 2024, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. President Schnaars called the meeting back to order. PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. FINANCE/PLANNINGIZONING Ryan Mayberry- Chairman; Members: Ronald Kratz, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. Budget will be discussed at the Special Meeting b. Visioning There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. PUBLIC SAFETY Ronald Kratz - Chairman; Members: Ryan Mayberry, Zachari Halkias 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics a. Discussion process for selecting new police chief b. Steve Carr pointed out the major changes in the Police Budget that there had been an approval for an additional police officer. A line was added for the Professional Development - Chief- this would be for the chieft to attend conferences for $3,500.00. Steve added that there will be a radio upgrade coming from Lehigh County that is a requirement. The approximate cost is $15,000.00 for the tirst-year payment would be. The County is working on a bond issuançe and financing, that we would contribute to for out portion of the radios. Computer grades to Windows 10 for most of the borough offices, and the police cars. Window 10 computers will be done in 2025 and there are other computers scheduled for upgrade in 2026. Fire fund = Steve pointed out that it is difficult to pin point maintenance on an individual vehicle, sO the vehicle maintenance was combined to one line. C. Visioning 1 Fire Chief Reph provided information and pricing concerning the replacement of their 30- year engine and 30-year-old rescue truck combining them in to one truck. President Schnaars would like this placed on the next council agenda. Chief Reph asked if the replacement doors will be done, which had been approved at the Council meeting of August. The fire alarms were approved July gth for COVID LFRF and nothing has happened with this. There were no questions from the committee members; the Public Safety Committee meeting was adjourned. C. HUMAN/COMMUNITY SERVICES Zachari Halkias - Chairman; Members: Ryan Mayberry, Ronald Kratz 1. Committee Member discussion on listed topics: a. The committee reviewed the request from Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool Association to hold a fund raising to use the trail head for the Great Slatington Duck Race on June 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM unit 5:00 PM. President Schnaars requested this be placed on the next council agenda for approval. b. The committee reviewed the request from Slatington Lions Club to hold their fundraiser starting on Friday, 11/15/24 to 12/28/24. President Schnaars requested this be placed on the next council agenda. C. Budget will be discussed at the Special Meeting. d.
