BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on February 26, 2024 in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Schnaars at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS David Schnaars Jeralyn Schoch Daniel Stevens Ron Hausman Walter Niedermeyer Justin Gross Ryan Mayberry Kevin Steckel Jeffrey Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Walter Niedermeyer - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, Jeffrey Hausman 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Walnut Street bridge replacement - underground sewer/water - communication from Jason Hebbard. The construction for this may require moving sewer/water lines. This is a costly undertaking. Currently, they are not sure that they will need to move. The Borough will be updated as more information becomes available. b. Walnut Street bridge replacement communication from Jason Hebbard concerning color of traffic signal poles at Main and Walnut Streets. The committee agreed to the gray color (unpainted). This will be placed on the next regular council agenda as informational item. C. Discussion concerning complaint about no parking signs on Kuehner Ave. Review existing ordinance. Councilor Niedermeyer stated the reason for the signs was due to students parking and racing their cars. The committee agreed that the signs should remain. This will be plaçed on the next regular council agenda. d. Update on submission and bidding for CDBG projects. Justin Gross informed the committee that as far as bidding goes, they plan on surveying to get the TOPO done. He can then do the plans and coordinate with Lisa on bid documents and get it out to bid. The submission for the 2024 CDBG application is still not up on the website. e. Update on liquid fuels funds match for 2023 CDBG projects. Manager Stevens stated that the meeting with liquid fuels did not happen, because our Liquid Fuel representative did not make the meeting. The Borough received an extension on one permit. PennDOT is requiring more information concerning the sewer lateral for the Masons. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Jeffrey Hausman - Chairman; Members: Walter Niedermeyer, Kevin Steckel 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Update on permit submissions to PennDOT for sewer installation and water line break. This was discussed during the highway committee. Manager Stevens stated that PennDOT is requiring more information. 1 b. Update on clarifier arm repairs. Councilor Hausman stated the target date is March 18h, > 2024, to have the unit shipped. C. The committee discussed the request for increase in capacity from Walnutport. This request is being handled by the Slatington Borough Authority. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Kevin Steckel = Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Walter Niedermeyer 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed the Lehigh County Drought Contingency Plan Adopted March 2020. Manager Stevens stated that it must be updated as far as the dates. This will be placed on the next regular council agenda. b. The committee reviewed the quote from Martz Technologies, Inc. for spare parts for new control panel - $6,617.73. This will be placed on the next regular council agenda. C. The committee reviewed the quote from Martz Technologies, Inc concerning filter bed effluent valve control upgrade for $19,587.37 (currently seeking additional quotes). The committee agreed to wait for further quotes. This go to the next regular agenda if more quotes have been received. d. Update on the control panel project and SCADA system. Manager Stevens informed the committee that there is no change at this time. There have been a few issues that must be addressed. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATINAL ITEMS: Councilor Hausman stated that the "no parking" signs near 4th Street and Kern Street are faded. Manager Stevens stated that the highway crew is making a list of faded signs. He will verify that they are on the list. E. COURTESY TO THE FLOOR: None Councilor Hausman made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Niedermeyer, to adjourn. AIl in favor.
