BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON COUNCIL MEETING MINOTES 7/19/21 The Special Meeting of Council was held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at 6:00 PM, at the Borough Hall, 125 S. Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080 Presiding: Bryon Reed: President of Council Recording Secretary: Daniel Stevens, Borough Manager/Secretary The meeting was called to order by President Reed at 6:04 PM with the following in attendance: ROLL CALL PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS PRESENT VISITORS Bryon Reed David Schnaars Mayor Niedermeyer Jeffrey Hausman Jason Ruff Daniel Stevens Robert Herzog, Jr. Joseph Wechsler Thomas Bartholomew Ronald Kratz Kevin Steckel 3. PRAYER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG President Reed 4. NOTIFICATION: President Reed announced that all public sessions of Borough Council are electronically recorded and such recordings are maintained as part of the meeting record until the minutes are transcribed and approved by the Board, at which time the recordings shall be erased. 5. EXECUTIVE SESSION - None 6. PUBLIC COMMENT - (For Agenda/Non-Agenda Items) please use Podium (3 minutes) - None 7. Councilor Wechsler made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Bartholomew, to hire Daniel Thomas Szczesny as a part-time seasonal employee at a pay rate of$15.00 per hour with no benefits. Hours to be set by the borough manager. President Reed declared the motion passed following a Roll call, voting as follows: ROLL CALL AYES NAYS ABSTAIN Bryon Reed Ronald Kratz Jason Ruff Joseph Wechsler Thomas Bartholomew Kevin Steckel 8. Councilor Bartholomew made a motion, duly seconded by Councilor Wechsler, to authorize Attorney Healy to advertise ordinance changes concerning procedure for setting spending limits for borough manager. OTHER BUSINESS: Mayor Niedermeyer suggested that for next year the borough advertise to hire a company to do general seasonal work around town. 10. UNIFINISHED BUSINESS: Councilor Wechsler asked Manager Stevens about the lid removal project at the sewer plant. Manager Stevens stated he received a call from Joe Bonney and he said that the bid documents are 95% completed, but they are waiting for Fred Ebert to review them. 11. ADJOURNMENT Being no further business, Councilor Wechsler made the motion, duly seconded by Councilor Kratz, to adjourn the meeting.
