BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on January 21, 2019, in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Stevens at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS Daniel Stevens Dave Lear Ed Ziegler Bryon Reed Gwyn Jones Joseph Wechsler Jeff Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Bryon Reed - Acting Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Dave Lear informed the committee the details and specs for the borough are the same used for PennDOT in reference to the curb and sidewalks. President Stevens stated the new ordinance should have the degradation fees. Dave Lear will contact Ed Healy and Larry Turoscy to follow up on this and will present it at the next committee meeting. Dave stated he and Larry are getting a package together for Shadow Oaks Lane to put it out to bid. b. Council Reed responded to Jim & Susan Layland's request for a handicap parking space in front the of library. He feels it is necessary to conduct a study for the parking issues. Presently, the borough of2 hours parking on Main Street and 3 hours in the parking lot. During the day the cars are not checked for overtime parking in the lots; therefore, the cars are staying all day. Councilor Reed suggested the committee meet with the merchants to get their grievances and ideas for the parking issues. C. The committee suggested the Trailhead pavement repairs, 100 steps, the intersection at Main and Walnut, paving, for the multimodal project list. Dave Lear stated the roads they would look at would have to be on their list. He also said the borough could do a municipal wide traffic study, which doesn't have to be just for vehicles, it can include pedestrian and possibly the parking issues as an overall study. Dave Lear will submit the project list by Friday, 1/25/19. There were no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler - Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee discussed the Commonwealth Financing Authority payment request of $3,058.97. The committee reviewed the financial figures. Only $4,402.00 is all that will be paid. b. Reschedule meeting for possible grant application for PA Act 101 Section 902 Recycling Grant Round on February 28th, 2019, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Lehigh County government Center at 7th and Hamilton Streets, Allentown. Councilor Reed will contact Tim Bollinger to find out what is available to see if the borough wants to apply. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Bryon Reed- Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Dave Lear informed the committee he would have further information for the PA Small Water grant - Shadow Oaks Lane at the next council meeting. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned.
