BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on June 24, 2024, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Schnaars at 6:40 PM with the following in attendançe: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS David Schnaars Jeralyn Schoch Eric King Kevin Steckel Justin Gross Ryan Mayberry Aaron Schoch Daniel Stevens PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Aaron Schoch = Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Walnut Street Bridge proposed lighting calculations email from Jason Hebbard. Manager Stevens pointed out the changes for Lehigh County as to who will be taking care of the electricity, i.e., simplified electric circuitry for two decorative lights along So. Walnut. The borough's responsibility is for the single existing street light at Church Street and the two proposed street lights mounted to the Main Street traffic signal. The county will handle everything else. President Schnaars would like this placed on the next regular Council agenda. b. Walnut Street traffic signal submission communication from Jason Hebbard. Justin Gross stated that he has reviewed their signal submission information, wrote a comment letter with red mark plans. This needs to be approved by Council. The committee agreed to have Manager Stevens forward the information to Jason Hebbard. President Schnaars would like this plaçed on the next regular Council agenda. C. The committee discussed the box/delivery trucks at Center Avenue. Complaint from 748/750 Main Street. Borough ordinances do not currently designate no trucks for this street. Councilor Schoch stated that he has measured and there is a 10-foot clearance. He recommends the maximum height be 9 feet. Manager Stevens suggested placing a height limit, and not totally banning trucks. The committee agreed that this would have to be sent to the attorney to amend the ordinance. The committee agreed to have this placed on the next regular Council agenda. d. Update on submission and bidding for CDBG project. Justin stated that Lehigh County still has the Sth Street CDBG. Once this is returned, they need a permit from PennDOT for sidewalk and stormwater. North Street information has been forwarded to Attorney Young. e. The committee discussed paving quotes for Chestnut Alley. Manager Stevens stated that at this time he had one quote, however, he has a meeting with a contractor tomorrow to obtain another quote. The committee agreed to place this on the next regular Council agenda. f. The committee discussed paving quotes for Oakhurst Drive. Manager Stevens stated that at this time he had quote, however, he has a meeting with a contractor tomorrow to obtain another quote. The committee agreed to place this on the next regular Council agenda. g. The committee discussed the property with water issue on 4th Street extension. This is the house that is being built, they hit a spring and that is washing out the driveways below. Councilor Schoch has suggested placing blacktop at the apron part of the driveway to prevent erosion. The builder's proposal is to put in two big drywells, but they must wait 60 days to see ifit works. Being no further questions from the committee members, and sO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Aaron Schoch - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee discussed request for increased capacity from Walnutport. There is currently no new information. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Kevin Steckel - Chairman; Members: Aaron Schoch 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Update on Maple Spring waterline replacement (Small Water and Sewer Grant). Justin stated that the engineering is done. Attorney Young has the documents, and once they are returned, they will go out to bid. Manager Stevens stated that the borough has another grant for approximately $60,000.00, and this is for the Shadow Oaks Stormwater Project. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Water/Special Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: None E.
