Commissioner Vicites said it doesn't cost the county anything. Public Announcements Commissioner Dunn said on Saturday, March 15 at 9 a.m. will be the 8th Agricultural Roundtable at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. He said there will be breakfast and two guest speakers. He said they will discuss farming issues, including deer degradation. A member of the public asked how items are placed on the agenda. Commissioner Dunn said it can be sent to the commissioners and at least one commissioner has to 12 put it on the agenda. Recorder of Deeds Jon Marietta said he sent something to the commissioners about eliminating the jury commissioners elected positions and apparently none of the commissioners wanted to put it on the agenda even though it would save $150,000 a year. Commissioner Dunn said it wouldn't save the county $150,000 a year, none of the commissioners put it on the agenda, and eliminating the elected officials does not stop the county's requirement to provide a pool of jurors. He said at budget time he looked into it and it would have saved about $62,000. He said the tasks still needed completed, and outlined the tasks. Mr. Marietta said the majority of counties in the state have eliminated them sO there must be some benefit. Solicitor Purcell gave a history lesson on the importance of jury commissioners. Commissioner Vicites said the current jury commissioners have done a good job. Solicitor Purcell said they couldn't just get rid of them, there needed to be a study. Commissioner Lohr said he would want to do more research before taking such a step.
