BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were held on November 25, 2024, in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meetings were called to order by President Schnaars at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT ABSENT OTHERS VISITORS David Schnaars Jeralyn Schoch Kevin Steckel Justin Gross Aaron Schoch Roy Hambrecht William Schippers PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY Aaron Schoch - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel, William Schippers 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Update on CDBG projects. Justin Gross stated that the North and Church Streets were completed on November 19th, 2024. They are currently filling out a payment application. They have received comments back from PennDOT and they are currently working on revising to their comments. b. The Committee reviewed equipment to be replaced. The Committee discussed the two (2) replacement trucks for the Highway Department. Councilor Schoch stated that the trucks have been purchased for $116,734.70 and looking for delivery in the spring. Being no further questions from the committee members, and SO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER William Schippers - Chairman; Members: Kevin Steckel. Aaron Schoch 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The Committee reviewed the job description for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or Operator Trainee. This employee would also assist the road crew. The sewer certification courses are free online, and the Borough will pay the fee for the final certificate. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE Kevin Steckel - Chairman; Members: Aaron Schoch, William Schippers 1. Committee Member Discussion; a. Discussion Atlas Copco Compressor Services quote - 2- or 5-year plan. The Committee agreed to the 5-year plan. President Schnaars would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. Manager Hambrecht continues to research the need for upgrading the water meters and how much the Borough is losing. 1 Being no further questions from the committee members, the Water/Special Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned.
