BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Finance Planning/Zoning, Public Safety and Human/Community Services Committee Workshop Meetings were held on November 26, 2018 in Council Room, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA 18080. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed the information from Tony Lopsonzski. He attended the Code Enforcement Forum on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. There were no questions from the committee members; the Finance Committee Meeting was adjourned. PUBLIC SAFETY David Schnaars-Chairman; Members: Thomas Bartholomew, Jason Ruff a. Councilor Schnaars gave the floor to Fire Chief Jason Nicholas. Jason informed the committee the fire company has 2 aging trucks - 1993 pumper truck and 1995 rescue truck. His proposal is to work towards a consolidation of both those vehicles to one new vehicle. This would decrease the maintenance, insurance, etc. Jason provided the committee with price estimates. Jason has been in touch with USDA and was informed that the fire company would be eligible for a $50,000 free grant from them and they may be able to finance the entire purchase of the truck at fixed rate for 20 years. Jason is doing research for other funding and putting specs together. Jason is requesting from the committee to go ahead and start the process. This is all preliminary. There were no questions from the committee members; the Public Safety Committee Meeting was adjourned. HUMAN/COMMUNITY SERVICES Jason Ruff - Chairman; Members: David Schnaars, Thomas Bartholomew 1. Committee Member Discussion 1 a. Councilor Ruff informed the committee that Mike Kukitz is planning to come to a committee meeting in the future to discuss various issues. There were no questions from the committee members; the Fuman/Community Services Committee Meeting was adjourned.
