Regular Meeting April 1, 2024 The Mayor and Council for the City of Maysville met on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Homer Street. Present: Mayor Richard Presley, Councilmembers, Kim Wilmouth, Richard Parr, Amanda Farley, and Brodriche Jackson. City Clerk/Administrator, Sandra Helton. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE The invocation was given by Mayor Richard Presley. The Minutes of Regular Meeting March 4, 2024, Special Called Meeting March 7, 2024, and Special Called Meeting March 21, 2024, was approved as read. The motion to approve was made by Councilmember Richard Parr, seconded by Councilmember Amanda Farley. Motion carried. New Business: Council member Richard Parr made a motion to increase John Turpin salary from $17.93 to $21.00. Councilmember Kim Wilmoth seconded the motion. Motion carried. Kimberly Wilmoth made a motion to hire part time library assistant, Dawn Johnson for $10.00 per hour. Brodriche Jackson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Kimberly Wilmoth made a motion to increase the business license fee from $40.00 to $60.00 and add a $20.00 late fee penalty if not paid by January 31St. These rate fee changes would go into effect 1/1/2025.Richard Parr seconded the motion. Motion carried. Ordinance 2024-01-01: An ordinance of Mayor and Council of the City of Maysville, Georgia to authorize and regulate the manufacturing, distributing, and selling by wholesale of retail of wine and malt beverages. The city limits sign at Comer Street and Ridgeway Road was tabled due to the Mayor/Council wanting to have the City Attorney look at further details. Resolution 82-2024-01: A resolution to declare and certify abandoned a portion ofFactory Street running off Park Street. Richard Parr made a motion to accept Resolution 82-2024-01. Kim Wilmoth seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Mayor and Council discussed the paving of Mitchell Street. It was discussed that Mike Sales would gather signatures from the people living on the street for the road to be paved. Brodriche Jackson made a motion to table this item until work session SO we could gather more detailed billing information regarding the Georgia Power Bill for Veterans Park. The Community Club has dissolved and will no longer be paying the charges for the power at Veterans Park. There was some discussion ofwho would take responsibility for the payment of the bill. Richard Parr seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilmember Richard Parr made a motion to adjourn at 6:46 pm. Councilmember Kimberly Wilmoth seconded the motion.
