BOWIE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES NOVEMBER 18TH 2024 Call to Order: The Bowie Public Library Board held their regular bi-monthly meeting November 18", 2024, in the Bowie Library meeting room. Karen Milchanowski called the meeting to order at approximately 4:01 p.m. Others present: Beth Hiatt Library Director, Sally Morgan, Crystie Riley, Karen Milchanowski, Lua Brown, Jessica Burris, and Bennie Pickett. A quorum was present. Minutes of Previous Meeting: It was moved by Lua Brown and seconded by Sally Morgan to approve the minutes for September 16th, 2024. Old Business: None New Business: Re-appointment of current board members. -Kelsey Beach: moved by Sally Morgan, seconded by Lua Brown -Sally Morgan: moved by Lua Brown, seconded by Bennie Pickett -Bennie Pickett: moved by Crystie Riley, seconded by Sally Morgan -Crystie Riley: moved by Bennie Pickett, seconded by Lua Brown All in favor. Beth read over the statistics, mentioning a software update on the program which involved taking extra steps to get monthly statistics. We received $42.26 from Thrift Books. We also received $5,000 from the County Funds, which is the amount we. have received in previous years. Craft nights have continued to be a hit with 33 showing up on the last craft night, averaging 40 per event. Beth mentions the dip in DVDs going out. After school gaming has dropped in the amount joining, the last game night had a good turnout. Beth goes over the Directors Report: -5-6 people showed up for the Clown we had on September 29l -Chicken and Bread Days Art Show had a great turnout, spoke of ways to get more local adults to enter including the Chisum Trail Art Group to participate. -Next adult craft night is December 12th making button Christmas Trees. -Friend of the Library book sale November 7th-gth went well with a profit of$1,136, used all the books from storage, sent in 17 boxes to Thrift Books and all the books set out for free were taken. Beth informed us ofthe upcoming event ElfMagic December 7th sponsored by First United Methodist Church December 5lh program for Evergreen, they will be visiting for Christmas activities. The Homeschool Program has done well with an average of 30 showing up. Beth informed us of our invite to the Christmas Brunch December gth at Pecan St. Café at llam. ADJOURNMENT: With no further business to discuss Crystie Riley moved to adjourn, and Lua Brown seconded, Karen Milchanowski adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m. NEXT MEETING: January 20th, 2025 at 4:00pm in the library meeting room.
