BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Regular Board Meeting February 6, 2025 - MINUTES STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF MONTAGUE CITY OF BOWIE On this 6th day of February, 2025 the Community Development Board of Directors convened for a regular board meeting. Presiding: Jamie Rodden Members: Debbie Halbrook, Mildred McCraw, Sylvia Henning, Matt Hunt Executive Director: Cindy Roller City Liaison: Mayor Gaylynn Burris Absent: Vickie Howard, Donna Ballew Meeting was called to orderby Board President, Jamie Rodden at 5:01 p.m. OLDI Business 1. Previous meeting minutes presented from January 16, 2025. Sylvia Henning motioned; Debbie Halbrook seconded with no objections minutes were approved as presented. 2. Cindy Roller gave an updated about upcoming Red River Valley Tourism Assoclation meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with location to be determined. The next BCD meeting will be on Thursday, March 13 (day before St Patty's Sip & Stroll event). Texas Lakes Trail Region Travel Information Center (TIC) Blitz willl be held on Monday, March 3, 2025. They will visit Grapevine, (detouring by the Bowie Knife), Wichita Falls, Gainesville, and Denison Texas Information Travel Centers on a bus tour to promote the upcoming activities of Bowie, Texas. Those included the downtown Sip & Strolls, All Texas Shop Hop the QuiltShop is participating, American Hat being sold at Wise Street Mercantile, Jim Bowie Days Celebration & Rodeo, 30th Annual Chicken and Bread Days, and of course the World's Largest Bowie Knife. NEW Business 1. The Board presented two new member applications: Renee Hart and Marty Elmore. Sylvia Henning motioned with Debbie Halbrook seconding approval of Hart. Debbie Halbrook motioned with Sylvia Henning seconding approval of Elmore. 2. The Board unanimously approved the reinstatement of Jamie Rodden to officer position of Board president and Debbie Halbrook to officer position of Board vice president. 3. The Board agreed to finalize the 2025 event dates: Quarterly Sip & Stroll with me events on Friday, March 14 St. Patty's Sip, Friday, May 2 Mom's Night Out Sip, pre-Chicken and Bread Days Sip Friday, October 3, and Christmas Songs Sip Friday, December 5, 2025, downtown Bowie, Texas from 5 to 81 p.m. Participating in the Red River Valley Tourism Hwy 82/287 Yard Sale June 6-7 and October 3-4; july Jam fiddling on Saturday, july 26, BAEA /BCD/BISD presents Amon! The Ultimate Texan play on Saturday, August 23 for two showings 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. (tickets will be $20 at held at the Bowie Junior High Auditorium), Chicken and Bread Days Bass Tournament on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival (30th Annual) on Saturday, October 4, Hanging of the Greens on Saturday, November 15, Pink Friday Shop Small on Friday, November 21, Blue Saturday Shop Small on November 29 and Fantasy ofl Lights Christmas Festival and Lighted Parade on Saturday, December 6, 2025 with Make a Joyful Noise - Christmas Songs theme. St. Patty's Sip and Stroll with me will include 22 locations including popups and horse-drawn carriage rides, photo booth, live music, and food trucks and much more. 4. The beautification projects continue. It was suggested to locate the history of the buildings and continue the window cling project. 5. Bowie Community Development willl be honoring White's Magneto and Supply with the Texas Treasure Business Award at the next City Council meeting on' Tuesday, February 25 at 61 p.m. All are encouraged to attend and represent. The next deadline to enter a submission is May 1, 2025. Suggestions made included: Scrugg's Furniture and Appliance, Ward's Auto, Industrial Diesel, Gibbons, The Shopper, KNTX radio. Director's Report Cindy Roller reported that more interest has been expressed in improvement façade grantapplications. She is looking into possibility ofo creating a fun scavenger hunt for the spring Sip events. She is also looking to add more to the display att the Bowie Knife. Other upcoming events include the Jim Bowie Piston Heads Auto Club Spring show on Saturday, March 29, NCTC Starlite Gala on Saturday evening, March 29, Chamber Links Golf' Tournament: Saturday, April 12, Shred-A-Thon Saturday, April 19, 2025, Leslie Thomas at Pecan Street Café has requested more welcome bags for event on April 6.
