City of Midway City Council Meeting Minutes November 21, 2022 The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by Mayor Brenda Ford The Invocation was given by City Secretary Debra Newkirk, Mayor Ford led the Pledge. Those in attendance included Mayor Brenda Ford, City Secretary Debra Newkirk, Council members Rex Newkirk, Gus Kangos, and Brandee Curtis. Janet Boone was in attendance. Council members John Whitmire and Marc Nelson were unable to be present. Wes Savage was also unable to attend. Gus Kangos made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda, Rex Newkirk made the second and will all present being in agreement the motion carried. A request was presented by City Secretary Debra Newkirk for the Council to approve RFP's and RFQ's for both CDBG 23/24 and CDBG-MIT for administration and engineering. Gus Kangos made the motion to approve the request, Brandee Curtis made the second and with all present voting in agreement, the motion passed. Debra Newkirk requested time off on November 30th for dr. 's appointments. Gus Kangos made the motion to approve, Brandee Curtis made the second and Rex Newkirk abstained. With those present being in agreement the request was granted. Staff Reports were given at this time. With Wes Savage being absent, Janet Boone gave both the Water and Wastewater Reports. For the water report, Janet reported that everything is good. On the wastewater report, Janet reported that she is waiting for an update regarding the aeration system. The majority of the City Secretary's Report had been given in the request to solicit for RFP's and RFQ's. Other items in the report included an update on the AMPSS (Asset Management Program for Small Systems) and notice oft the filing period for the upcoming May Election with Council members John Whitmire, Rex Newkirk and Gus Kangos all being up for re-election. The last item was the information given on the Holiday Dinner Boxes-10 families received boxes for Thanksgiving and there is enough for 10 families for Christmas! At 7:20 p.m. the Council entered into an Executive Session to discuss personnel. At 7:35 p.m. the Council returned to Open Session and issues that were discussed were tabled for a later meeting.
