MINUTES CALLED MEETING January 10, 2025 Council for the City of Covington held a called meeting on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia. Acting City Clerk, Rebecca Nuckols called the meeting to order with the following members present: Councilman William (Lance) Carson, Jr.; Councilwoman Susan S. Crowder; Councilman Fred F. Forbes; Councilman Raymond C. Hunter; Councilwoman Susan S. Wolfe. Also present were City Manager Allen Dressler and via phone City Attorney Mark Popovich. Purpose of Meeting To hold a reorganization ofCity Council. Ms. Nuckols explained that when a motion is made for Mayor, she would do a roll call and Council would vote for that person with 'for' or against". After the vote for Mayor, it would be the same process for voting for Vice Mayor. Ms. Nuckols asked for a motion for Mayor. Mr. Forbes made a motion to nominate Mr. Carson for Mayor seconded by Mr. Hunter. The roll call votes were as follows: Mr. Carson, for; Mrs. Crowder, for; Mr. Forbes, for; Mr. Hunter, for; Ms. Wolfe, for. Ms. Nuckols asked for a motion for Vice Mayor. Mr. Carson made a motion to nominate Mr. Forbes for Vice Mayor seconded by Mr. Hunter, The roll call votes were as follows: Mr. Carson, for; Mrs. Crowder, for; Mr. Forbes, for; Mr. Hunter, for; Ms. Wolfe, for. Ms. Nuckols turned over the meeting to the new Mayor, Mr. Carson. Mr. Carson thanked everyone for believing in him to do the job of Mayor that he will pray before making decisions, appreciates the confidence in him and will do the best he can for the citizens and employees of the City. Mr. Dressler asked Mr. Popovich via speaker phone if there was anything further. Mr. Popovich stated there was nothing else and we are good. With no further business to come before Council, the meeting was adjourned by consensus.
