MINUTES CITY OF AMES, TEXAS 304 MARTIN DR. EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING June 27, 2022 6:00 p.m. The City Council for the City of Ames, Texas met in a regular meeting in council chambers at the Ames City Hall at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Cornelius Gilmore call the meeting to order at that time. Mayor Gilmore led the prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Mayor Gilmore did the roll call, at that time the members of the City Council who were present are: Mayor Cornelius Gilmore, Michael Trahan, Eddie White, Audrey Harrison, Alfred Freeman, Jr., and Liz Hardy. CITIZEN APPREARANCE Mayor Gilmore thanked the citizens for being here and to please silence your phones. A list of attending citizens is attached. MINUTES None were read at this time. 2022-01 - SPEAKER - DISCUSS A CPA - SPEAKER: LEEANN BRENT WITH SWAIM BRENT. Ms. Brent stated that she wanted to address the Council to give them her decision as to why she separated from the City of Ames, she mentioned several issues that she had, but that she would be willing to discuss possible rehiring and if anybody had any questions, they could give her a call. Mayor Gilmore discussed that the City needs to hire a bookkeeper to help with accounting. Motioned was made by: NONE NEEDED Seconded by: All in favor: 0 Opposed: 0 Abstained: 0 2022-02 - DISCUSS HIRING A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT FOR ERWIN SEMIEN. Mayor Gilmore stated that he did not want to hire anyone to replace Erwin since we only have two jobs lined up, and since Shedric DeBlanc is not certified then we can use Joey Keel for contracting services if we need to tie into any sewer. Discussion was made about what $3,000.00 was for. Mayor Gilmore discussed that was for the purchased of the Deureoun property offFM 160 North. He also explained that the $3,000.00 was to purchase a portion ofthe Dereoun property and that they had more they want to sale to the City; also, two (2) online payments were discussed; one for $1,558.07 and $216.60. These were online payments to vendors. Motioned was made by: NONE NEEDED Seconded by: All in favor: 0 Opposed: 0 Abstained: 0 MAYOR'S REPORT The bill with the Ames Water Department was discussed stating that was for a water line that was broken on FM 160; the RV Park on Hwy. 90 have over 55 permanent spots, 10 washers and dryers and an RV wash which is all being dumped into Ames' S sewer system; what are we going to charge Dragon, we need to get some numbers together.
