MARCH 10, 2025 The Newcastle City Council met in regular session at the Newcastle City Hall, 608 Broadway Ave, Newcastle, Texas at 6:00 pm on Monday March 10, 2025, with the following members present: MEMBERS: Mayor ProTem: Dickey Baynes Council Member: Sarah Riley (Absent) Jeff Altebaumer Chad Owen Dustin Hobbs City Secretary: Alice Winder OPENING PRAYER: Dickey Baynes asked Chad Owen to open the meeting up in a prayer at 6:02pm. VISITORS: N/A PUBLIC FORUM: Aaron Gowens came to express his interest in the Dollar Store. TRADD STRAWBRIDGE- Thanked the city council members for the job they are doing. He was speaking with regard to the letter he received from the city. The letter stated that his gate was obstructing Belknap Street. This letter was mailed to him because the city will need to continue the Belknap Street to provide a resident utility service. His trailer and the gate running across Belknap Street. And he wanted to know why the city cannot provide him with sewer services. This is not possible because of the location of his house and the grade in which the sewer has to flow. He did mention that he had come in here previously to ask if he could have a sewer tap put in and was denied. The City Council did tell Mr. Strawbridge that they would look and see what they could find out about the sewer. DISCUSSION WITH J.T. SHELTON-VLA. REAL ESTATE (D.G. DEVELOPER) = NEED TO APPROVE SITE PLANS- ACTION TAKEN -CANCELLED = The Dollar Store will not happen. Due to a lawsuit ofthe proposed location. We, the CITY, did not have a decision in this. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR FEBRUAR 2025- All city council approved of minutes. Chad Owen made a motion and Jeff. Altebaumer second it. Approved 3-0 APPROVAL OF THE FINANCIALS FOR FEBRUARY 2025 - Financials were approved. Motion was made by Jeff Altebaumer and Chad Owen second it. Approved 3-0 DISCUSSION ON PAID HOLIDAYS- Alice Winder (city secretary) brought up the fact that the city is a governmental office, why are all federal holidays not observed by the office. After lots of discussion the mayor and city council came up with a holiday that the office can and will start
