SA V MINUTES NOVEMBER TOWN OF STOKESDALE TOWN COUNCIL SPECIAL CALLED MEETING - 8325 ANGEL-PARDUE ROAD STOKESDALE, NC 27357 OCTOBER 24, 2024 AT 7:30 PM OR ESDA This special called meeting of the Stokesdale Town Council was scheduled at the request of Mayor Pro Tem Derek Foy. Public notice of this meeting was published on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Due to early voting taking place in the Stokesdale Town Hall Council Chambers, this meeting was held in the Front Lobby of the Stokesdale Town Hall. Mayor Pro Tem Foy introduced Aaron Babson, Engineer with Hazen and Sawyer Engineering, and explained that Aaron Babson was in attendance of the meeting to answer any questions that the Town Council or Town Staff may have. Consideration of a Proposal for Electrical Power Upgrades at the Stokesdale Town Park. 322 Mayor Pro Tem Foy emphasized the importance of upgrading the electrical supply at the Stokesdale Town Park to support the planned lighting installation around the athletic fields. He explained that, per the expert recommendation of Ron Overby, President of Reynolda Electric Company, Duke Energy should upgrade the current 240- volt single-phase power to a more robust 480-volt three-phase system. This enhancement would provide the necessary power for reliable and efficient field lighting, meeting the Town's growing needs at the park. Mayor Pro Tem Foy made a motion to approve the cost estimate of $13,707.87 provided by Duke Energy Engineer Mike Eanes, contingent upon written confirmation of specific project details. The estimate, emailed to Town Administrator / Town Clerk Wagoner on October 24, 2024, at 10:59 AM, requires verification from Eanes that it includes Duke Energy upgrading the electrical supply to Stokesdale Town Park to 480 volts of three- phase power, delivered via an underground line from Angel-Pardue Road to a Duke Energy pad-mounted transformer at the park. He stated he was pleased with both the details and the pricing provided by Duke Energy and thanked the Stokesdale Town Council for approving their cost proposal. 14. Council Comments.
