City of Mertzon City Council Meeting Minutes February 24, 2025 Regular City Council Meeting Those Present; Mayor:Aubrey Stewart Council Members: Employees: Danny Crutchfield Michele Rabenaldt, City Administrator Mayorl Pro-Tem: Randy Councilman Gus Pardo, Operations Jayton Lindley Danicl Harper Natalio Padilla, Admin Assistant Brittany Chappell, Admin Assistant The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Aubrey Stewart, with quorum present. Opening prayer was given by Councilman Cruichfield. Pledge of Allegiance and Salute to the Texas Flag werc recited by all in attendance. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None TWEEL7 TIRES: Councilman Lindley made a motion to approve ofthe purchase of tweel tires for several pieces of cquipment and regular rear tires for the backhoe, setting a spcnding limit at $6,200.00 Councilman Harper seconded. All in favor, Motion passed. MOVE DEAD METERS: Councilman Lindley made a motion to accept changes to be written into the Water Ordinançe. Changes will be to not allow residents to kecp mcters for their property while not utilizing water services unless they arc paying the monthly service charge. Councilman Crutchfield seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. SPRING CREEK PAVILLION: Counçilman Councilman made a motion to accept the placement ofthe Spring Creck pavilion, after hearing the suggestions from the City'se engineers. Councilman Harper seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. CIVIC PLUS: Councilman Councilman made a motion to accept the new contract for a new call out system provided through a contract carried by Irion County. Councilman Crutchfield seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. CONCHO VALLEY FOOD BANK: Councilman Lindley made a motion to approve sending a letter from the City of Mertzon in support of the Concho Vally Food Bank. Councilman Harper seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. NEW REGENCYGROUP: Councilman Crutchfield made a motion to approve the estimate from New Regency Group for replacement parts on the WWTP clarifier, Councilman Councilman seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. BASEBALLFIELD CONTRACT: Councilman Lindlcy made a motion to approve 2025 contract between the City ofMcrtzon and the Little League Baseball Association for use of the baseball fields. Councilman Harper seconded. All in favor, Motion passed. OFFICE COPIERPRINTER: Councilman Lindley made a motion to approve purchasing a larger copier/printer and signing a 1- year contract with Total Office Solutions. Councilman Councilman seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. SPRING CREEK BRIDGE BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT: Councilman Harper made a motion to allow citizens to paint trash cans, clean up trash and some trec trimming (with a city employee on site) in preparation for the painting of the bridge at Brims Crossing. Councilman Councilman seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. OFFICE COMPUTERS: Councilman Harper made a motion to approve the purchase of3 new HP computers and 2 monitors for the city office and new W/S office. Councilman Crutchfield seconded. All in favor. Motion passed. FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS: Councilman Councilman made a motion to approve all financial documents. Councilman Lindley seconded. All in favor, motion passed. DAILY OPERATIONS UPDATE: Information presented by Operations Supervisor Gus Pardo 1. Located watcr lines for" TxDot construction signs. 2. Fixed water leaks on Sherwood & Broadway, 3rd & Oak and 209 E. James. 3. Back filled meter boxes and switched out metal meter boxes at 612 S. Broadway and 106 N Park View. 4. Rounds 34 times. 5. Met tank inspectors. 6. Filled chlorine tanks X 6. 7. Met with Paul Vann from TCEQ for water samples. 8. Installed 7 new smart meters. 9. Worked on WWTPx6. 10. Assembled new aerator. 11. Worked on sewer stoppage at 118 N. Broadway. 12. Took soil samples to lab. 13. Worked on clarifier gear motor. 14. Cleaned rags off the aerator. 15. Met with technician from New Regency Group to get estimate for repairs on clarifier, 16. Retook soil samples to lab due to lab mistake. 17. Swept the intersections of 3rd & Main and Broadway & Sherwood. 18. Pushed up construction material at City Hall. 19. Worked on jetter, mini excavator and street sweeper. 20. Worked on sprinklers. 21. Took water samples and BOD to town. 22. Took water truck to Eldorado fori inspection. 23. Went to town 2 times for parts. ITEMS FROM COUNCIL: None.
