City of Oak Ridge Kaufman County, Texas City Council Meeting Minutes January 27, 2025 at 6:00 PM Item 1 Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Mayor Paul Hullar at 6:03 PM. Present were Council Members, Janelle Davis, Scherri Holmes, Nena Langford, Rolando Guzman and Mayor Pro Tem Jimmy Quick. Captain Clell Murray attended for Chief Bill Weatherly. City Secretary Karen Stacey was also in attendance. Item 2 The Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Paul Hullar led the group in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Item 3 Update on January 15, 2025 Court Session Court Administrator Skyler Walker spoke on the proceedings of the January 15, 2025 Court Session. There were 87 Cases, 1 bench trial, 76 were tried and 11 going to warrant status. The bench trial took approximately 1 hour and the verdict was guilty. There are 2jury trials to be set for March 12, 2025 and 1 bench trial. Item 4 Discuss, Consider, Action to Approve Minutes of January 13, 2025 Council Meeting Motion was made by Scherri Holmes and seconded by Janelle Davis to approve City Council Minutes of January 13, 2025. Mayor Pro Tem Jimmy Quick Abstained. All others being in favor, motion carried. Item 5 Discuss, Consider, Action to Approve Payment of January 27, 2025 Bills/ /Invoices Motion was made by Janelle Davis and seconded by Nena Langford to approve Bills/Invoices of January 27, 2025. All others being in favor, motion carried. Item 6 Discussion on Police Department - Discuss, Consider, Action to Approve $10,000 Retroactive Tier 1 payment to be used towards recently purchased patrol vehicle and patrol vehicle expenses (Chief, Bill Weatherly) Racial profile report was successfully submitted. Motion was made by Janelle Davis and seconded by Rolando Guzman to apply $10,000 retroactive Tier 1 payment towards recently purchased patrol vehicle and patrol vehicle expenses. All others being in favor, motion carried. Item 7 Discuss, Consider, Action on Approval of Quote for Road Repair on Red Oak Motion was made to approve the quote from Big Country for the amount of $3,200.00 for the Red Oak Road repair by Nena Langford and seconded by Janelle Davis. All being in favor, motion carried. Big Country was the third bidder at $3,200.00, Akin was $4,100.00 and Texas Materials was highest at $5,000.00. Item 11 Mayor/Council Items of Community Interest and/or Items for Future Council Considerations Cyber Security Training and information regarding House Bill 471 was discussed.
