January 24, 2025 The Gorman City Commission met in a Called meeting on the above date. Those present were Mayor David Perry, Commissioners Robert Ervin, April James, Luis Ramirez and late arrival was Bill Miears. Commissioner Ervin led the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. The meeting opened with discussion, questions and answers and clarifications regarding budget line items and amounts. After lengthy considerations Commissioner Ramirez made the motion to appoint Tacy, the city secretary, as City Manager at a pay rate of $25/hour, with no cap rate, as with growth comes more responsibilities. Annual review with employees will be conducted as well as a review with the City Commission. Commissioner James made a second. Motion carried 4-0. Mayor Perry updated the commissioners on the DRP and briefed them on the meeting he had with Ken Martin, of Jacob Martin Engineering. Mr. Martin drove to Gorman on 1/23/25 and met Mayor Perry at the corner of Roberts - Kent to discuss the issues we have the ramps, and the need for protection to keep cars from "cutting the corner" causing damage and the possibility of adding metal cover over the drain. The commission discussed the pictures Ann Jay sent of the construction work performed in front of her building, ( old bank building) . The concrete was not level with one of the top step which had caused tripping and could cause one to fall, as well as the debris and dirty sidewalks which were left not swept or removed. The pictures will be forwarded to Jacob Martin. There being no further items to consider, Commissioner Ramirez motioned to adjourn with a second from Commissioner Miears.
