January 2, 2025 The Gorman city Commission met on the above date. Those in attendance were Mayor David Perry, Commissioners Robert Ervin, Luis Ramirez, April James, and Bill Miears. Others in attendance were PWD Jeff Young, EDC Director Trinity Davis, Deputy Sheriff Larry Watson, Mary Jo Dugan, and Margaret Hetrick. Public Hearing for CDBG Program Community Development Contract #CDV21-0084. There were no comments from anyone. Mayor Perry led the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. Mayor Perry called the meeting to order at 5:35. Commissioner Ramirez motioned to approve the minutes of the previous meetings, correcting the type error, with a second from Commissioner Ervin. Motion carried 4-0. Commissioner James made a motion to approve the bills as presented with a second from Commissioner Miears. Motion carried 4-0. Mary Jo reported 330 were served at the food bank. She also stated that they are experiencing the need for meat at the food bank. EDC Director Trinity Davis gave an EDC report followed by Interim PWD Jeff Young. Deputy Larry Watson also presented the sheriff's department report. Item #7 Personnel: @5:50 p.m. Commissioner Ramirez motioned to go into Executive Session with a second from Commissioner Miears. Motion carried 4-0. @ 6:29 p.m. Commissioner Ramirez moved to adjourn from Executive session and return to Regular Open session with a second from Commissioner Miears. Motion carried 4-0. With no action taken upon returning to open session a Called meeting will be set for January 24, 2025 @ 3:00 p.m. to establish pay scale and consider city manager position, wages and anniversary dates and accrual of annual and sick leave. Mayor reported the condemned structure on South Fisher street was demolished and cleared. A lien needs to be filed to regroup charges.
