City Manager Frank Rodriguez III recognized the commitment and hard work ofthe Public Works Department. The countless ways these dedicated teams keep our community safe, functional and thriving. Their efforts are often behind the scenes, yet their impact is essential to our daily lives. Each department does a remarkable job of their differential functions and purposes. He presented the Water, Sewer and Gas Departments with Certificates of Appreciation, noting the importance of restoring utility services promptly, especially after hours, to minimize inconvenience to residents. Discuss/Act upon Ordinance No. 24-127, An Ordinance of the City of Fort Stockton Adopting a Covered Applications and Prohibited Technology Policy for the City of Fort Stockton, Texas; Containing a Savings Clause; and Providing for the Publication and Effective Date Thereof. (IT) Information Technologist Lawson Kemp explained in compliance with Texas Governor's Directive and Senate Bill 1893, this policy establishes a prohibition on the installation and use of covered applications and restricted technologies on government owned and leased devices. Covered Applications is defined as the social media service TikTok or any successor application or service developed or provided by ByteDance Limited or an entity owned by ByteDance Limited; or a social media application or service specified by proclamation ofthe governor under Section 620.005. The other change would alter the order in which inspection is conducted, and permits are issued. Discuss/Act Upon Resolution No. 24-119R, A Resolution Authorizing the City of Fort Stockton to File a Grant Application for the FY 25 SB 224 Catalytic Converter Grant Program through the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority. (C.O.P.) Chief of Police Ernesto Velasquez explained Resolution No. 24-119R, would Authorize the City of Fort Stockton to File a Grant Application for FY 25 SB 224. The grant aims to deter and prevent catalytic converter thefts through law enforcement utilizing technology like LP readers and like equipment. He stated the deadline to apply was initially today; however, due to the holiday, the deadline would be extended. She advised City Council the project is approximately 3/4 of the way complete; however, there is not an expected completion date as they are waiting on parts.
