Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Remie Ramos requested permission to file a Grant Application for the T-Mobile Hometown Grants Program for the purpose of updating signage to draw people to the downtown area. The grants could be up to $50,000.00. Page147 City Attorney Jesse Gonzales, Jr. explained the purpose of this annual agreement is to share resources between the City of Fort Stockton and Pecos County. He noted the Agreement lists the City of Fort Stockton as a General Law Municipal Corporation and should be amended to reflect that the City of Fort Stockton is a Home Rule Municipality. The only time there will be an expense is ifit has been pre-approved and agreed upon. The County makes the payment and we, the City, will reimburse them for our portion of the Hyper-Reach Emergency Communications Network. The City will notify the County if an area requires spraying for mosquitoes, and the city would be responsible for the costs associated with those services. City Attorney Jesse Gonzales, Jr. explained the Agreement between the City of Fort Stockton and TDIndustries, Inc. is for Planned Maintenance Inspections over a total of 60 scheduled site visits for the City ofl Fort Stockton Air Conditioning and Heating Systems. This agreement is for a 1-year term. Discuss/Act upon Initiating the Abandonment and Closure of0.108 Acres ofUnimproved Platted Right-of-Way Lying Adjaçent to the West of the South Half(S/2) of Block 1, 2ND GOVERNMENT FORT ADDITION to Fort Stockton, as requested by Property Owner Ricardo A. Garcia. (City Atty.) City Attorney Jesse Gonzales, Jr. advised City Council this property was located at the corner of4 4th and Everts. The Property Owner would like the City to abandon and close a portion of their Right-of-Way for the purpose of building a privacy fence. He explained the reason this request was being considered by Council was due to the expenses the property owner could possibly incur with this request. He further advised that there are no City Utilities, and they were in the process of checking with 811 to ensure other utilities were not located in the area prior to granting the request. He noted the property owner would have to comply with setbacks to ensure the fence does not obscure the view oft traffic at the corner of 4th and Everts. He noted a major price difference between the two bids. He recommended awarding the bid to Core & Main LP as they submitted the lowest bid of$44,965.74. Council Member Ruben J Bernal inquired ift the City of Fort Stockton has used Core & Main LP before. Public Works Director Luis Guerra replied that the City utilizes Core & Main LP a lot. In fact Benmark Supply Company, Inc. and Core & Main LP are the primary vendors utilized for materials pertaining to water and gas.
