City Council Meeting January28,2025 1. CALLTOORDER: 2. ROLL CALL: Regular Meeting called to order at 6:00pm by Mayor LeBarre. City Council: Mayor Mike LeBarre, Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Deleon, Council member Carlos' Victoria, Council member Rob Cullen. Council members Oscar Avalos(absent). Engineer Octavio Hurtado. City Staff: City Manager Steve Adams, City Attorney Roy Santos; City Clerk, Erica Sonne, City 3. FLAGSALUTE: The flag salute was led by Mayor LeBarre. 4. CLOSED SESSION ANNOUNCEMENIS: were denied by City Council. 5. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS: City Attorney Roy Santos stated that the liability tort claims of Jonathan Rodriguez and Andrea Martinez A. Award Presentation for Sergeant Shaw and Officer Hughes of Metal of Merritt and a pin by Chief James Hunt for coming under fire by a suspect and making a good decision to use lethal force. Mayor LeBarre and Council Members thanked the officers for their exemplarywork. 6. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS: None 7. COUNCIL COMMUNICATION5: Council Member Cullen stated at the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority meeting they choose the new President Liz Silva, Vice President Glen Church and 2nd Vice President Gloria De la Rosa. They went overa preliminary budget. He also stated that the SVSWA has an Edible Food Recovery Grant Program for nonprofits ifanyone knows ofgroups that need equipment for their food distribution, please let him know so he can get them connect to receive help. He has the annual Community Foundation Board Retreat this Council Member Victoria stated his title needed to be changed on his picture on the wall and Mayor Pro Tem DeLeon needs his title changed as well. King City High School is working with Seniors on a financial aid workshop on Feb. 3rd. They are getting ready for their Prom in April, planning their Senior trip. Cheerleader team participated in a CCS competition and they received 3rd out of17 schools. High School Proyouth excepting applications. Elementary Schools are doing Duck, Cover and Hold drill this week. Spring conference week is coming up second week of February. All the schools are having Cafecito which weekend. All the schools in elementary school district are applying to be community schools. Congratulations Ms. Estrada who was the Farmers Insurance teacher oft the month. Mayor Pro Tem DeLeon had nothing to report this evening. Mayor LeBarre stated last week was Farm Week at the fairgrounds. He had the annual meeting with Senator Laird. Friday night Fort Hunter Liggett is having a free concert with Gary Sinise and the LT. Dan Band. 8. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMENTS: City Manager Adams reminded State of City tomorrow and the bilingual one on Thursday evening. City Attorney Santos had nothing to report this evening. 9. CONSENT A. Mayor LeBarre announced that 2 letters were received on item 9(E) one from MST and one from Blue Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem asked the City Public Works Director Octavio Hurtado if the City was ok with the correctionsa and what was statedi int thel last paragraph oft the MSTI letter. Public' Works Director Hurtado stated that yes and a report could be provided on projects that have been completed.
