Warren County Health Department Board ofHealth November 19, 2024 The Warren County Board ofHealth held its meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Members present: Dr. Elton Brown, Mr. Alan Daeke, Mrs. Eva Brown, Mrs. Candice White, Dr. Christian O'Malley, Mrs. Kaye Hall, Commissioner Bertadean Baker and Ms. Linda Baker Others present: Dr. Margaret Brake, Andrea Goode, Atty Shiekel Richardson, Mrs. Paula Pulley The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dr. Elton Brown and a moment of silence was Mrs. Melissa Richardson and Dr. Robert Stewart were sworn in by Atty Shiekel Richardson and Warren County Health Department. and Tanisha Lyons. observed. Paula Pulley notarized their oaths. Dr. Brake read the Conflict of Interest Statement. There was no public comment. Dr. Brown welcomed Mrs. Richardson and Dr. Stewart to the Board of] Health. Dr. Brake requested the Flu/Communicable Disease Report be tabled until January meeting because the Nursing Director could not attend tonight's meeting. Commissioner Baker moved tot table the item and seconded by Ms. Linda Baker. There being no further discussion the motion The September 2024 minutes were reviewed. Mrs. Candice White moved that the minutes be accepted and seconded by Mrs. Eva Brown. There being no further discussion the motion was unanimously passed. unanimously passed. We are starting to receive state grants (monies received from DHHS that covers al lot of our programs) and we. have collected 9.8% revenue oftotal budget that began July 1St. Dr. Stewart moved to accept the finance report as presented and seconded by Dr. O'Malley. There being no further discussion the motion unanimously passed. Dr. Brake presented the updated Environmental Health Fees. The changes are for food establishments. Our Environmental Health Staffi is trained in Safeserv, they offer 3 scenarios for customers 2-day course for $80.00, Test only $41.00 or Food Program Management Review +Test $60.00. The price covers all material needed for the class and the customers don'thave to travel outside oft the county to get the training. Health Director's Report 11/19/24 StaffUpdates Director). Actively recruiting for vacant positions in Public Health Nursingand Nutritionist IL (WIC Program Updates 1. Diabetes selt-Management Program Held a six-week Diabetes Self- Management Class at the Warren County Senior Center. The class started on September 16, 2024 thru October 21, 2024. There wasa total of 10 participants who completed the class. The class is aimed at diabetics, pre- diabetics and caregivers. 2. HRSA Impact Grant The Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition was awarded a nearly $3 million federal HRSA Impact Grant aimed to expand recovery and treatment services for substance use and opioid use disorder in Wilson, Warren, Wayne, Edgecombe, and Nash Counties. The Health Department will be the lead organization responsible for assisting with the administration and implementation oft the grant activities and services in Warren County in partnership with local agencies. Thel health department anticipates receiving $150,000 annually over the next four years for at total of $600,000. 3. Trainings Staff participated in the following trainings: Cultivatinga Workplace of Respect and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Virtual Trainings were held on October 2ndand 24th. 19individuals attended. Hosted in collaboration with Wake AHEC. QPR. Suicide Prevention, CPR and Overdose Prevention Narcan Training was held October 7th, 10am-12pm at Perfecting Praise Ministries, Norlina, NC (Food Lion Employee Relations Shopping Center). There were 18 participants at this training event. Partners included Staff Development Day was held October 11th, Buck Springs Park, "Splashing Backi into Public Health". Sessions on drug trends/gangs, heart health/prevention, communicable Wake AHEC, EMS and Perfecting Praise Ministries. disease update, change style indicators and team building. 4. Community Engagement Events Industry and Education Lunch, October 3rd hosted by Community & Economic National Night Out, October 12th hosted by WC Sheriff's Office, Warrenton/Norlina Jr. ROTC Civic Engagement Day, October 21st hosted by WC Government Community Health Day on October 28th Mobile Care Units offered health screenings- Trillium and NC Central University; local organizations shared information about their services and community resources; 100+ attendees participated in this event.
