Judy Calpo Once the interview process was completed, all the candidates were requested to return to the City Council Chambers. 7.5 City Council Appointment - Following interviews of City Council applicants, the City Council may take action to make an appointment to the vacant City Council seat term ending November 2026 (appointment to be made until the November 2026 election) and if a selection is made, the appointee will be sworn in at the January 21, 2025 Regular City Council Thirteen (13) in-person public comments were received. Nine (9) written public comments were received. After City Council discussion and consideration regarding the interviews of the four City Council canddiates, 1. Nominate Candidate Lisa Duke to fill the City Council vacant seat Motion by Mayor Okamura, second by Vice Mayor Donnelly. 2. Due to the public's interest regarding the tree planting project and keeping up to date with other City issues, Vice Mayor Donnelly encouraged the public to watch the videos of past meetings, particularly the video of the regular meeting of the City Council on December 17, 2024 to see if their questions have been addressed by City Council. 2. Mayor Okamura also concurred with Vice Mayor Donnelly and encouraged the public to reach out to members of the City Council to learn more and receive clarification regarding City issues.
