Councimember Call /wanted to talk about the Polar Plunge that Parks and Rec hosted. It was a great event at the pool way bigger turnout than I6 expected, and Ihad the opportunity to partner with Assemblyman Heath Flora, and a community member, Corinne, nurse of the year in 2023. Street Riverbank, CA95367 www.scfpd.us STAFF REPORT TO: Riverbank City Council FROM: Charles Neal, Board of Director SUBJECT: Update for Riverbank City Council DATE: January 14, 2025 The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District was reviewed by the Insurance Service Office (ISO) fori its fire protection rating. After the rating, the District was rated an ISO class 2; prior ratings were an ISO class 3. These ratings will go into effect in March 2025. The reason for the lowering of the rating is the partnerships with our surrounding agencies and contracts. Congratulations to our most recent medics, Captain Austin Lunde, Captain Micheal Crabtree, Engineer. Jordan Abru, and Engineer Cody Wessels, who have passed their tests and are beginning to work as medics. Currently, the District has 16 paramedics who provide Advanced Life Support at the District's five fire stations. The goal is Stations 26, 24, and 23 have passed inspections, and all SCFPD can provide ALS care when a paramedic is on to have 18 by the end of 2025. duty. Engine 26 A fire at Silgan Containers caused an estimated $1 million in damage. The fire occurred in a machine used to burn off by-products of the coating process applied to cans produced at the facility. Engine 26 was the first unit to arrive on the scene. Firefighters found that a machine, located 250 feet inside the building, had caught fire. An emergency exit was created about! 501 feet from the firei to facilitate personnel movement and ensure safety during operations. Crews worked for about three hours to cool the fire and make the area safe for extinguishment. Once the fire was controlled, crews could open the machine and fully extinguish the fire. There were. several challenges this fire presented. The fire was deep inside the building, requiring time and effort to access. The machine was elevated, making it difficult for firefighters to access thet fire directly. The catwalks around the machine were initially unsafe due to the high heat from the fire. Final extinguishment was Board President Bernardi, along with his Wife Cathy Bernardi, hosted Operation Hope and Love from California at Station 26. They partnered with South Carolina resident Lauren Holmes of the Forgotten Clothes Closet to distribute donated clothing items to Hurricane Helene Victims. We had an excellent turnout, and we thank President Bernardi and Cathy Bernardi for their selflessness in hosting this event for the victims. carried out once the area was deemed safe.
